"So, I heard that Neville asked Mal to go to the Coronation with him.""Really?" Georgie asked, surprised.
She and Ben had finished their nightly reading session in the library and now he was walking her back to her room. Ben had been a lot more touchy during their time together — wrapping his arm around her and even now he was holding her hand as they walked. Georgie felt like there were butterflies in her stomach every time he touched her, so she didn't complain.
"Yeah, it was a little after the game ended. He took her to his favorite spot in the campus gardens and asked her."
"That sounds so romantic," Georgie said, smiling. "I'm glad. Mal is pretty private though, so I understand why she didn't tell me."
They neared Georgie's room and Ben slowed their pace down, wanting to keep talking.
"You know, you did really good reading Pinocchio," he complimented.
"It had a lot of hard names — Pinocchio, Geppetto, Mangiafucco. You definitely picked a tough one," she said, chuckling. Georgie was glad that she no longer felt embarrassed about reading with Ben.
"But you worked through them without getting frustrated, and you should be proud of that."
"Thanks," she said, blushing.
They reached the door but Ben didn't let go of her hand. Instead, he brought it to his lips and placed a kiss on her knuckles.
"Would you go on a date with me?" he asked. "Tomorrow once classes are done?"
"Of course," she said, grinning. "I can't wait."
"Great! You'll love what I have planned," he said excitedly. "I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night."
"Goodnight, Ben."
When Georgie opened the door, she wasn't expecting for Evie and Mal to tumble to the floor. Clearly, they had been listening to her and Ben instead of sleeping.
"Hello to you too," she said, giggling as she stared down at them.
They scrambled to their feet and sheepishly apologized.
"Sorry for eavesdropping," Evie said, still grinning. "But oh my god, you have your first date tomorrow! We have to start planning your outfit right now."
"E, it's late and we have class tomorrow morning," Georgie reminded her. "But you have full permission to dress me up however you want tomorrow. Promise."
"Fine," Evie pouted.
"So, Mal," Georgie said, smiling innocently. "What's this I hear about you and Mr. Neville Naveen?"
Mal's smirk dropped and she crossed her arms. "Alright, I think it's time for bed."
Evie and Georgie giggled as Mal turned out the lights and got ready for bed, completely ignoring them. Eventually, they all settled down and managed to go to sleep.
