Lera's POV (Approximately 12 hours after the end of last chapter)
I stand outside Dominic's door and give it a soft rasp. I don't hear anything and kind of don't want to just walk in like I normally would. I do it anyway and find that, like always, Dominic is in his bunker. I walk in and climb down the ladder, expecting to find him inventing, sparring with A.R.I.E.S., or in his gym working himself to the bone yet again. Instead, I look throughout his entire dorm and don't find him anywhere.
"A.R.I.E.S., where is Dominic at? I need to talk to him", I ask softly, hoping I won't be given away.
"Mister Rain is currently in his private room down the hall, Ms. Melnikova, he said that if anyone wants to see him, they should come back tomorrow", is the response I get. I immediately start wondering what Dominic could be doing that involves him spending the entire night on his own. I decide that the best thing I can do at the moment is find out, in case he's hurting himself in some manner. I walk down the hall and stand in front of the door labeled, "Private, stay the fuck out" and steel myself before opening the door and walking in. At first I'm confused because all I hear is extremely loud music. I walk further in and realize I'm in a secondary hallway with, a window? I take a closer look and finally piece together that I'm in a recording booth and the window is looking into a room that is fully soundproofed except for the wall of the room I'm in. I watch with interest as Dominic sits at a large set of drums and stays perfectly in tune with whatever song is playing. He stays like that for what seems like hours before the song ends and I look around for anything that'll let me talk to him without entering his personal space. I find a big green button labeled speaker and lean over to an obvious microphone.
"Alright Dominic, that was great. Let's take it from the the top", I say into it, thinking he'll find it humorous. Instead, he jumps and immediately shuts off the lights and music before walking to the door at the end of the booth I'm waiting in and busting the door open.
"What the fuck? Can't you read the damn sign", Dominic yells at me with a face redder than a tomato. I immediately start to feel bad, knowing that I must have intruded in something really personal of his.
"Dominic, are you okay? I've never seen you like this", I ask.
"Well not fucking really. Can I not have anything private?", Dominic says, slightly less angry this time.
"Yes, yes, you can. I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to overstep my bounds. I just, remembered how we left things earlier and wanted to see if you wanted to talk", I tell him and he just, stops cold.
"You wanted to what?", he says, confusion apparent on his face.
"To talk. I figured that you may want to try and work through what happened. It helps, if you're up for it", I tell him softly, trying not to push him.
"Are you serious? You actually came to try and talk through something? Is this a joke, when is someone going to walk in with a camera?", he asks me.
"What? No, this isn't a joke.", I tell him seriously and it hurts me a little that he thought it was. Dominic now looks confused and I tell him to take a seat. He does without hesitation and I sit next on the floor next to him. For some reason, he looks a little uncomfortable.
"So, how does this work?", he asks and I giggle a little.
"It's not hard, we just say what's bothering us and the other person answers. For instance, I was wondering what you meant when you said fighting with blades was "Your Specialty"", I say calmly. Dominic immediately starts looking uncomfortable so I slide closer to him and put my hand on his, hoping it will reassure him, "It's okay Dominic, I'm not here to judge".
