Dear You,

so you don't trust yourself, huh? You believe you've been led astray in the past, is that right? You think that the compass inside you points the opposite way of everyone else's, and therefor, it must be a bad compass. it's not broken. you know it's not. you know it works.

you just don't like it.

what then?

what happens when you don't like the one and only compass you've ever gotten or will ever get?

what happens when you pretend like you have a say in the matter of who you are?

all this time you've been asking yourself, why do i have to be this way when you should've been asking yourself, why is that so bad?

the buzz on every screen says the same philosophical stuff all the time, but do you know the one that says, if you don't love yourself, who will? I've heard it so many times but here it is again. you need to listen this time.

we idolize unions and partnerships, we cut out holes in our lives so that someone else can fill them, but what if we never cut out a hole? what if you were whole to begin with but you began to believe the whispers of people around you?

what if the only reason you scour through dating apps and your eyes rake through crowded rooms is because of those whispers you've heard your whole life?

the same whispers who told you your compass was special edition, but not in the way you'd want to be special edition.

what was the danger of blocking out those whispers again? what was it?

do you even remember?

whatever it was was terrifying.

i feel your pain from here.

can you block out those whispers? just for a second, just right now. for you and for me. we're all alone. can you do that? can you show yourself to me?

I want to see who you really are.

Love,
