"He's a stranger, Gguk! You can't just let him stay in our home!"

"He's isn't a stranger, So-Young! He needs our help," Jeongguk argues with his hands placed on his waist as he looks at his wife with a vexed countenance.

"You've known him for what... three days? I know you value your job, Jeongguk, but you always struggle to seperate your profession from your regular life," So-Young counters with softly furrowed brows as she continues to place dishes in the dishwasher.

"Being a police officer is my regular life. It's what I do for a living. So-Young - can you please stop doing the dishes for at least one second and just listen to me? I hate talking to the back of your head," Jeongguk asks impatiently and quickly he's met with his wife's irate expression.

"Well what else do you want me to say, Gguk?" she asks and crosses her arms. The crinkle between her soft eyebrows doesn't falter for even a single second as she glowers.

"I don't want you to say anything. I want you to listen to me. Listen to what I have to say before you shut me down completely like you're always so good at doing," Jeongguk retorts sharply and So-Young's hostility switches from a boil to a simmer.

Her arms fall to her sides and she scoffs, shaking her head as well as rolling her eyes. "Unbelievable," So-Young mutters while angrily tamed and walks off. It isn't long before Jeongguk hears a door slam and he squeezes at the bridge of his nose, a heavy sigh parting his chapped lips.

He looks over to the living room, Jimin still wrapped up in a blanket and sitting still on the couch as he stares forward blankly, fingers curled around the fabric of the cover.

Jeongguk runs both of his hands down his face and decides to go after his wife. He walks down the hall and enters their bedroom, pushing the door open slowly. She sits on the bed with her head hanging dejectedly and her hands in her lap. So-Young plays with her fingers mindlessly.

Jeongguk takes a seat beside her, able to feel the cold radiating off of her rigid body. He tucks some of her hair behind her ear so he can see her face and frowns as soon as he sees evident tear trails along her cheeks.

"Did I make you cry?" he asks quietly and she sniffles, wiping at her cheeks. She shakes her head and decides to remain distant which has the policeman sighing quietly to himself.

"I'm sorry, So-Young. I crossed the line. I shouldn't have said the things I said," he apologizes and reaches out, placing his hand on top of one of hers gingerly. He grazes her wedding ring with the pad of his thumb and she looks up at him with sad eyes.

"Is it true, Gguk? Am I always shutting you down? I'm sorry..." she voices quietly with a small crack in her voice as she searches her husband's owlish eyes for answers intently.

"Don't worry about it," Jeongguk dismisses and smiles while enveloping her hands in his own, brushing them benignly with his fingers. "If him being here makes you uncomfortable, he doesn't have to stay," he says.

So-Young shakes her head. "I'm being selfish. He isn't talking and he's clearly scared. If you want him to stay here for a little bit, he can. But only for a little bit. This is our home, Gguk. We have our needs, too," she says and the policeman smiles, thumbing at her bottom lip. He gives her a quick kiss on the lips and pulls away, tucking some loose strands of hair behind her ear.

"Thank you," Jeongguk expresses and his wife nods her head, rubbing at her eyes sleepily while a yawn crawls up her throat.

"It's late. I have to be up early for work tomorrow. Go help him get situated and come join me," she says and Jeongguk nods his head, placing one last kiss to the side of her head before he exits the bedroom, closing the door behind him.
