A few days later, Heather wandered to the bar where Bay Pine always performed. There wasn't a concert on today and the bar was shut but the band was allowed to practice in the shed round the back of the bar, since they were the bar's main attraction.
Heather pushed the wooden door open to see the band in full swing. Headbanging, foot-stamping, voices from every angle.
She watched as the band dived deeper and deeper into their song before pulling a crumpled note out her pocket. She had quickly scribbled it down before she left the house.
"Phone me ASAP
-H xo"
She placed it on a box next to Ryan's bag which he always left next to the door before quietly leaving and heading back home.
After she shut the door, she heard Ryan call, but she didn't stop.
"Hey, wait," called Ryan, running out the shed to catch up with Heather, "Heather, wait,"
"Hey, it's nothing big, we just have to talk," said Heather, watching Ryan take her hands. "I left a note next to your bag but...it doesn't matter now,"
"Okay, well, what do we need to talk about?" asked Ryan, looking concerned.
"I applied for Gilbert," said Heather, faster than she expected to.
"...Oh," exclaimed Ryan, loosening his grip on Heather's hands but not letting go.
"Yeah, it's this amazing school that-" started Heather, getting cut off by Ryan,
"I know about Gilbert...Isn't in Glasston, miles away from Whitton?" asked Ryan, trying to not sound to angry.
"I won't get in," sighed Heather, in an attempt to comfort Ryan.
"Have you auditioned?" asked Ryan, dropping Heather's hands.
"Yeah, we sent my recording away about a week ago and I got my letter about the audition, in Glasston," explained Heather, shoving her hands in her pockets.
"Well, when is it?" asked Ryan, swaying from foot to foot.
"Next weekend, I'm gonna go down with my Dad, go to the audition, wander around, sight-seeing you know," said Heather, watching Ryan's feet.
"Oh, well, you're still coming to the show this weekend, right?" asked Ryan, running his fingers through his hair.
"Yeah," sighed Heather, still looking at the ground.
"Great, well, okay. I gotta get back to the band and practice," mumbled Ryan, nodding as he turned on his heel.
"...Bye, Ryan," muttered Heather, watching him go back inside the shed without looking back.
Heather turned and headed back towards the bar and homeward bound, unsure about everything from going to the concert to going to the audition.

-i would like to add that Fortland/Glasston/Whitton Academy/Gilbert/Falkland/all the places i've used or will use don't actually exist...as far as i'm aware of :)
