On Wednesday afternoon, just days away from her Gilbert audition, Heather cycled home from school for once, she got a beach cruiser bike ages ago and never paid much attention to it until now. She stayed behind after school to practice her piano, as she had done all week and got a surprise when she came home.
She planned to go inside and practice again and again and again, except when she did get inside, Fiona and Graham stood in the hallway, as if expecting her.
"Heather," smiled Fiona, cuddling up to Graham.
"Hey," sighed Heather, heading towards the stairs.
"Don't make too much noise," smirked Graham, raising his eyebrows which made the full thing very sexual.
"...I gotta practice," said Heather, frowning at her parents.
"Of course you do," smirked Fiona, wandering down the hall.
"Idiots," mumbled Heather, watching her parents wander away as she headed upstairs.
She pushed her bedroom door open to find Ryan standing in the middle of her room.
"...Oh," exclaimed Heather, her eyes widening at the sight of him.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I was a dick," said Ryan, approaching Heather with open arms.
"I can't live like this," moaned Heather, pushing Ryan away.
"Me neither," said Ryan, as if trying to be on the same page as her.
"No, you don't get it, I can't sit and hope you'll come every few days when you could easily be sleeping with someone else or even with that Mia! Who does not like me, for a matter of fact," snapped Heather, crossing her arms.
"Mia does like you, in her own way," stated Ryan, not comforting Heather at all.
"Ryan, I've missed you so much and these last few days have been brutal for me," whimpered Heather, feeling tears prick her eyes.
"Yeah, I know, it's the same for me, I'm just scared...I don't like going away from you..." mumbled Ryan, coming over to Heather.
"Why would you be scared?" asked Heather, rubbing her eyes as she sat on the bed.
"In case I lose you. You really opened my eyes on Saturday," said Ryan, sitting next to her.
"You're not gonna lose me! Ryan, I love you, but I just can't...Live like this," cried Heather, letting the tears flow.
"I love you too," whispered Ryan as he pulled Heather in to him and cuddled her tightly.
Heather let herself calm down as the smell of Ryan's aftershave prickled her nostrils.
"I actually got you something made when I was in Falkland," cooed Ryan, swaying back and forwards in an attempt to comfort her.
"Is it a song?" asked Heather, mumbling.
"No, it's better than the music you hate," giggled Ryan, letting go of Heather and standing up.
"I love your music," said Heather, drawing her legs up to her chest.
Ryan pulled a small, badly wrapped, rectangular box out the pocket of his zipper and handed it to Heather.
"At least I know the warpping's yours," smiled Heather, standing up as she took the box.
"Shut up and just open it, okay?" asked Ryan, chuckling.
Heather pulled at the wrapping and eventually ripped it open to reveal a small silver box.
"What is it?" asked Heather, looking from the box to Ryan.
"Open it and see," smiled Ryan, wrapping his arms around Heather.
Heather lifted the lid off the silver box to see a silver chain bracelet with a guitar and a keyboard charm attatched onto it.
"It's...Beautiful," mumbled Heather, lifting the bracelet out the box.
"Now, whenever I do have to go away, you'll always have a piece of me reminding you that I'll come back," explained Ryan, taking the bracelet and lifting Heather's right hand, "You have to wear this everyday, okay?"
Ryan slid the bracelet up Heather's hand as she dropped the box and ran her finger over the guitar.
"God...I hate you," cooed Heather, looking up to Ryan,
"I love you," whispered Ryan, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her in.
"I hate you," replied Heather, smiling.
Ryan crushed Heather's soft, pink lips and held her tightly with one hand as he unbuttoned her school shirt with his other hand.
Heather wiggled her way out of her skirt  and kicked her flats off as Ryan slid her shirt down her arms and onto the floor.
he picked her up and placed her in the center of the bed before climbing on top of her and kissing her neck and chest.

Half an hour later, Heather was lying on Ryan's arm with her head placed on his chest while he stroked her hair.
"When was, like, the moment that you decided you wanted to be who you are?" asked Heather, running her index finger up and down Ryan's stomach.
"My dad...When I was about ten, I seen him...beating my mum, my brothers, Jason and Jordan, they were twins, had left about a year before this and I remember...Never wanting to be like that, I was gonna be someone and I was gonna live to make people happy. I was completly unaware of the guitar and I...I dunno, ever since, I just wanted to make people happy. I used to make my mum happy whenever dad went away off in one of his moods...I still don't know where the twins are, never heard from them again, I left when I was fifteen and found Mia here, I knew how to play the guitar, she knew the drums. We started the band," explained Ryan, glancing down at Heather.
"Oh, Ryan...I'm so sorry, that's a rough life," mumbld Heather, biting her lip.
"It's okay, I'm happy here. With you," said Ryan, lifting his head and leaning forward to kiss Heather's head.
"Me too," said Heather, feeling a slight smile curve her lips.
