The following weekend, Ryan took Heather out to a small bar so she could see him and the rest of his band perform. She didn't have much of a full interest in rock music but agreed to go since he sat through a symphony with her.
"Heather, this is Mia, Mia that's Heather," announced Ryan, presenting Heather in front of a girl with dark pink hair and a lot of face piercings.
"I gotta unload quick, we're going on in five, see you in there," said Mia, ignoring Heather and lifting a drum out of the back of a van.
"Oh...Kay," mumbled Heather as Ryan sighed and led her into the bar.
Inside, it was dark, overcrowded and stunk of smoke.
"Right, I'll see you after the show," said Ryan, pulling Heather in close to him and kissing her forehead before leaving her standing in the middle of the bar.
Ryan disappeared behind the stage while Heather made her way to the corner of the room where she would still be able to see and not get killed.

After a few minutes, a tall man in a suit, presumably the owner of the bar, got on stage.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS...I GIVE YOU...PINE BAY!" announced the man, before disappearing off stage as Ryan's band came on.
Heather watched as the mosh pit began filling up while Pine Bay started rocking out their version of 'Outta This Place' by Needles//Pins.

The show was over in half an hour, teenagers started leaving the building while the band began heading backstage except Ryan, who jumped off the stage in a High School Musical style.
He came over to Heather and put his arm around her shoulder.
He was sweaty and out of breath but looked kinda hotter.
"Right, now we go backstage where you slum it with us and meet other people," explained Ryan, leading Heather backstage, "Did you like the show?"
"Oh yeah, it was very Ryan-Esq," said Heather, meeting the eyes of the band the second she appeared backstage.
"You weren't moshing," sighed Ryan, looking rather sad about it.
"Hey, it was still a great show and I enjoyed it in my own way, I'll mosh next time," said Heather, trying to make it up to him.
"Yeah, okay," mumbled Ryan, letting go of Heather and going over to his band.
Heather stood in the middle of the room before going and sitting on a wasted couch in the corner of the room.
A few girls came over and started fan-girling about the band while asking Heather questions about Ryan for a few minutes.
"So what other bands are you into?" asked a girl who introduced herself as Liz.
"Classical...mostly," said Heather, watching Ryan laugh around with his band and not her.
"Right on, I love classical rock," smiled Liz, nodding her head.
Heather sighed and stood up before straightening her skirt out and heading for the back door.
The bands version of 'Outta This Place' had been playing on repeat, the fangirls and the lack-of-Ryan made Heather want to leave since she wasn't gonna fit in with them. She just wanted 'Outta This Place'. She barely reached the door when Ryan grabbed her arm.
"Hey, where you going?" asked Ryan, putting his beer on the floor after she turned to look at him.
"Home," said Heather, trying to seem less moody.
"Well, I'll drive you," said Ryan, pulling his car keys out of his back pocket and wrapping his arm around her waist, "Why do you wanna leave?"
"Oh, just miscommunicating..the usual and I have my curfew," sighed Heather, trying to sound sad about leaving and failing while they headed towards Ryan's car.
"Aw, that means you won't come to the afterparty at Mia's," mumbled Ryan, opening the passenger door for Heather.
"Yeah, sorry about that," sighed Heather, getting in the car.
Ryan jogged round to the other side and got himself in the car, "Yeah, no worries. I totally understand,"
Heather nodded as Ryan started up the car and pulled out of the car park. The journey only lasted about ten minutes but it seemed longer since the two of them chose not to speak. When Ryan pulled up outside Heather's house and turned the engine off.
"You sure you can't stay out with us?" asked Ryan, taking Heather's hand.
Heather nodded and opened the car door whilst pulling her hand away from Ryan.
She heard Ryan sigh before she shut the door. Ryan got out the other side and walked her up to the front door.

"Well, good night," smiled Ryan, taking both of Heather's hands and pulling her in close to him, "Thank you for slumming it with us, I shoulda hung with you more tonight,"
"It's fine, I get that you wanna be with your band after a good performance," mumbled Heather, breathing in the lingering aftershave on Ryan's fresh T-Shirt.
"HEATHER JUST GO! HAVE FUN!" hissed Fiona from the window.
"Mum!" snapped Heather, dropping Ryan's hands and pulling the door open.
"Fee, get away from the window," demanded Graham from inside.
"Sorry," mumbled Fiona as she stepped away.
"Are your parents cool with you staying out but you don't wanna or?" asked Ryan, frowning.
"Actually, I think I might be coming down with something," lied Heather, stepping in the house a little.
"Oh, okay. Well, call me when you feel better and we can hang out again," smiled Ryan, heading down the garden towards the car.
"HEY RYAN!" shouted Fiona, jumping out from the house.
"Mum, get back inside!" snapped Heather, pointing back into the house.
Ryan had already stopped walking and turned to face Fiona as Graham stepped out beside Heather.
"We always do these buffet dinners on Sundays, you should come over," smiled Fiona, rubbing her hands together.
"Yeah, sure. Okay, maybe I'll check it out," nodded Ryan, walking away from the family.
The trio stood in front of the door as they watched Ryan drive off.
"You know, that was wrong, on so many levels," moaned Heather, pushing past Graham and running upstairs.
"What?" asked Fiona, turning to see a cross-looking Graham, "She shouldn;t be scared to hang out with those guys, they're basically us only reincarnated,"
"Exactly," said Graham, turning on his heel and heading back inside.
Fiona sighed and followed, slamming the door when she was inside.
