after a long day in the creek, Craig looked out of the window and wondered what his friends were doing at this moment, Kelsey was probably feeding Mortimer, and J.P was probably watching Saturday late night show with his mom and sister, it was a good day to be in the creek. Craig sat up and went over to his main map to plan what he and his friends could do, he quickly glanced from place to place on the map "hmmm, maybe rainbow alley? nah, too messy, how about going over to the sewers?... oh yeah the rat problem... maybe visiting Omar..." Craig stopped as he said his guardian friend's name while looking at his post in his map, he should go there, after all he did still needed to explain to Omar that the tyrannical king of the other side of the creek had the Intel he needed to invade their side of the creek, he quickly glanced at his clock and noticed the hour, 9:47 pm, 2 minutes past his bedtime, he folded his map and put it on his trusty purse of holding before going to bed, why did the creek suddenly become more complicated? Do other kids also deal with problems like these beyond the creek? were there even kids beyond the creek ? ... probably, but that wasn't a problem for today, tomorrow is another day.
meanwhile, somewhere far upstream, past the kings land in Herkleton Mills, and into a urbanized part of the creek, trouble is brewing...
in this concrete filled, depressing, and lifeless part of the creek is called the graphite gulch by it's kid inhabitants, it is a hard place to be in, tides change quickly with the rise and set of the sun, the only food you will get here are fish, clams, and, God help you, algae, it is also home to an old factory that stopped being functional before your grandmother's grandmother began to walk. majestic sandstone cliffs harboring fossils from times long forgotten, gas leaks that have been burning for a long time, and mysterious structures scattered all throughout, Believe it or not this is the place where the ancients went after the deadly game of capture the flag oh so long ago, but since then they have all grown up and left their offspring to guard it, and they did, but then they all grew up, and they no longer wanted to hang out at the creek anymore. except for one, his name is Willinger Jones, Will for short. an outcast that doesn't have many friends. He is skilled in a lot of things, from fishing to survival-ism, sword fighting, and overall cunning. there is a reason why Will stays in this place, two actually, one is because being here gives him peace of mind, two is because if he leaves a group of 3 kids will take over. said group is comprised of Jack, the leader, he has a crossbow that fires fireworks, Jeremy a burly kid, who uses a heavy club adorned with bones (the "bones" are actually plants that turn white and hollow when wilted) and topped with a brown bumpy rock, and Rose, who uses a shield. These three were once good friends with him but something happened a long time ago that drove them to clash, now Will calls them the darkeners (due to their habit of being most active at night) bringers of chaos. they have conquered each and every one of the territories in the Gulch, leaving only Will's Campsite as the only place where Will can rest easy. Although so far they haven't done anything to take over so far today, tonight would be different...
