The Fire That Lived

Kai screamed, waking up from his nightmare. 

" Kai, are you alright? " Nya asked her brother, worried. " Yeah, I'm fine sis. " Kai said. " What was this nightmare about? " Nya asked Kai. " It's was about..our parents- " Kai said. " WHAT IS ALL THAT NOISE FOR? " their uncle yelled, opening the closet under the stairs. " Sorry- " Kai said. " If you or your sister cause trouble one more time, I will kick you out and make you live in the cold! " he yelled and left. 

" Ugh, I hate it here. But it's all we have.." Nya said. " Don't worry Nya, I promise I won't let them hurt you. " Kai said. " You're almost 11 Kai, and I'm almost 11. It's like we're cursed." Nya said. " Nya, something we happen that will make everything better. " Kai said. " That only happens in the movies.." Nya said, laying back into her bed. Nya shortly fell asleep, while Kai couldn't. 

His nightmare was about his parents, his parents death. He escaped from death, but left with a scar(Let's just say the scar he has with his current look in the show). Soon, it would be his 11th birthday, he'd never get presents, never get a cake or let alone anything. It was all thanks to his cousin, Liam. His aunt and uncle give him everything he wants, but nothing for Kai and Nya. Kai shortly fell asleep, tossing and turning all night.

The next day, Nya got up quickly while their uncle was yelling their names. Kai didn't wake up, after their uncle yelled louder, Kai woke up. " Nya? " Kai said, getting up. " KAI FLYNN SMITH GET IN HERE. " the uncle yelled. Kai got up quickly, his hair a mess. He ran to the kitchen and stood next to Nya. " Happy birthday, bro. " Nya whispered to him. 

Kai smiled at her, and looked back at their uncle. " Now, we have decided to go to a museum, not for you Kai. Liam wants to go. " their uncle said. " Kai deserves a birthday. " Nya said, sticking up for her brother. " Nya no- " Kai said, trying to get his sister to stop. " Do you wanna go or not? " their uncle asked them. " Nya, let me do the talking. " Kai whispered to Nya. " I was only sticking up for you. " Nya whispered to him. Kai turned back to their uncle and said " Yes, we would like to go. ".

" Go get ready then. " their uncle said, rudely. They both left, Nya went to the bathroom Kai went to their room, they both got dressed. The siblings came back in the kitchen to see their uncle, aunt and cousin ready. " Took you long enough.." Liam said. Nya gave him a stare, while their uncle and aunt walked past Kai growled at Liam. LIam quickly ran over to his parents. Kai and Nya followed them out the door.

Once they got there, Kai and Nya went to a statue. Nya pulled out a book of the statue and read it. " This is the statue of Wu, a elemental also known as a myth. Some people say that he ran off to run a school of elemental students. " Nya said, closing the book. " Okay, smarty. " Kai said, looking at the statue. " Jeez, I was just reading the backstory. " Nya said, putting the book away. " Do you really think it's a myth? " Nya asked Kai.

 " Probably is a myth, elemental powers aren't real. " Kai said. " You don't know that! I mean imagine a world like that, we could just blow up Liam and send him flying in the sky- " Nya said. Kai rolled his eyes and said " Stop reading that myth book, sis. ".

" Okay, well I'm gonna go look at a few more statues. " Nya said. " Cya around, bro. " Nya said, waving and walking away. " Don't get lost! " Kai said. " I won't. " Nya yelled, running to a different statue. Kai stared at the statue and said to himself, " What if that myth is real..". Kai had the thoughts as Nya about blowing away their cousin. 

Soon Kai began to see the statue moving, he thought he was going crazy and rubbed his eyes. It was still moving, creeping Kai out. It began to come closer to Kai and said " Wait for your letter and you and your sister will be safe. ". It went back in it's place like nothing happened. Kai looked around to see if anybody else noticed it.

During the trip back home Kai said nothing to Nya the whole time. Nya got worried and once they room home Nya asked " What happened when I left? ". Kai took Nya to their room and said " The statue....spoke to me. ". " Says the person who says I'm crazy- " Nya said, finally being able to pick on Kai. 

" It said, once you get your letters you and your sister will be safe. " Kai ignored what Nya said and kept going on. " Strange.." Nya said. " What is the same statue? " Nya asked Kai. " Yeah, it was that Wu one. " Kai said. " Maybe it isn't a myth " Nya said. " Myths aren't real, Nya. " Kai said. " Well, you're the one who saw it. " Nya said, starting to argue with her brother. " Kai Smith! Nya Smith! Come here right now! " their uncle yelled. Kai and Nya came to the living room, their uncle had a letter in his hand. Kai gasped, remembering what the statue. Nya looked at Kai, remembering what he told her.
