kisa.
my night was extremely restless, due to the fact that suna hadn't called me back. i wasn't sure if his phone had died and he was too lazy to charge it or if he got upset with me that i backed out on my promise.
who knows, it could be both.
i woke up and quickly got ready, hoping to run into suna on the way to school so i could explain what had happened yesterday so he wouldn't continue to ignore me.
"sara, i'm going to school!" i called up the stairs. i heard soft footsteps, and she appeared in the kitchen doorway.
"okay! call me if you need a ride, my classes are should be over by the time you get done with school." she said, and i nodded, quickly saying my goodbye as i ran out of the house.
suna and i didn't have a set meeting place, but we usually found each other at the ramen shop that was halfway to school. when i passed by the ramen shop today, though, suna wasn't there. was he really this upset with me?
i took in a deep breath and continued the small journey to school. this could be a long day.
the day seemed to drag on for much longer than necessary. i was overjoyed when my last class of the day came.
unfortunately, that class was health.
every second year at inarizaki was required to take health for at least one quarter. i personally thought it was ridiculous, but at least we didn't have to learn about any of the more...mature things that health classes usually contained.
"alright, everyone settle down! we're going to be starting a project that will continue for most of the quarter. this project is called 'the parent project.'" my teacher explained as we all listened quietly.
"the parent project" didn't sound like a promising name.
"i'll explain it more once i group you in pairs." she continued, making me gaze out the window. i tuned her out until i heard my name.
"kisa and atsumu."
oh god. why atsumu? everybody, and i mean everybody at inarizaki talked about atsumu. i knew that he played volleyball, and i also knew that he was good friends with suna. suna had tried to introduce us several times before, but to be honest, i was scared of atsumu's fangirls as well as atsumu himself.
those fangirls could kill me if they wanted.
"please find your partners and sit down. you will be taking notes." my teacher called, logging into her laptop so she could project the notes on the promethean board. (a/n: pls tell me my school isn't the only one that has promethean boards 💀)
i slid into the seat next to atsumu, and he flashed me smile. i felt my stomach flip, and i sent him a smile back.
"kisa, right? doesn't that mean kitten?" he asked, and i nodded.
"yeah, my mom actually named me that because it meant kitten." i replied, and he smiled even brighter, ruffling my hair.
"okay, i'm gonna call ya kitten now." he said, grabbing a paper and pen and facing towards the board.
hOLY FUCK, ATSUMU MIYA IS CALLING ME KITTEN, WHAT DID I DO RIGHT IN LIFE TO DESERVE THIS-
as i had an internal stroke, i copied down the notes, and noticed atsumu glancing at me from time to time. there was no way he was looking at me specifically.
i learned that the basic idea of the parent project was that each pair would get a fish that we had to take care of for the quarter. by feeding the fish and giving it all of the things it needed to grow and mature, it would "help us become better parents in the future," as my teacher said.
"okay, i'm coming around to give you your fish and worksheets that both you and your partner will have to fill out." the teacher called, and atsumu turned to me.
"i've heard yer name floating around the volleyball club before. do ya know suna rintarou, by any chance?" he asked, and i nodded, feeling a blush form on my cheeks as he stared at me intensely.
"mhm. we've been friends for a long time. i didn't know he talked about me in the volleyball club, though." i said, glancing down at the paper the teacher had given us.
"a lot, actually. they're all good things though, don't ya worry." he said, and i laughed, feeling much more comfortable around him than i did a few minutes ago.
"speaking of volleyball club, suna mentioned yer thinking about becoming the manager?" he asked, and i nodded.
"yeah. he's been trying for months to get me to join, and i finally cracked and agreed." i said, and he chuckled, nodding in approval.
"that's good. we could definitely use a good manager like you helping us out." he said, ruffling my hair again. i smiled in return, looking down at the worksheet.
maybe atsumu wasn't as scary as i though after all.
new love interest added!
ATSUMU MIYA

"if i find ya harassing our kisa again, there'll be hell to pay."
