kisa.
five o'clock in the morning was way too early to wake up, especially for a damn training camp.
i could barely see straight as i stumbled out of bed and put on my practice attire, which consisted of a black t-shirt and maroon shorts as well as my track jacket. i grabbed my duffel bag and phone, and quietly tiptoed downstairs to make sure i didn't wake up sara or my aunt.
"hello. where are you off to so early?" i heard someone say as i crept by the kitchen, making me let out a yelp.
sitting at the island was my aunt, cup of coffee in front of her. i furrowed my eyebrows and walked into the kitchen, standing across from her.
"why are you up so early? did you just get home from work?" i asked, yawning as i rubbed my eyes.
"i asked you first." she replied childishly, making me roll my eyes.
"i'm going to a training camp with the boys. sara must've forgotten to tell you." i replied, and she narrowed her eyes at me like an attack dog.
"i think it's your place to tell me, not hers. she's not going to tokyo, after all." she shrugged, almost making me scream.
"okay, i'm going to meet up with suna so we can walk to school together. have a good day." i said, turning on my heel to leave the house.
my aunt was my least favorite family member.
i walked fairly quickly, not wanting to be late to something as important as a nationals training camp. as i neared the ramen shop, i noticed three people standing there instead of just suna.
"morning, kitten. did ya sleep well?" a voice asked as i got closer to the trio. i quickly realized that the other two were the twins.
"no. i spent the whole night stressing over this camp." i sighed as the four of us started walking towards the school.
"don't stress. trust me, the guys that are at this training camp couldn't give two shits about the severity of the situation. they're just happy all of them get to meet up again before nationals." osamu replied, making me slightly less nervous. i felt someone take my hand, and i looked to my right to see suna giving me a small grin as he squeezed my hand.
i'm not catching feelings for my best friend. that's not what's happening.
"yeah, especially bokuto and kuroo. everyone thinks that their lives revolve around volleyball, but they're the two biggest dumbasses i know." atsumu said, making me laugh.
"i've never met bokuto personally, but i've heard he's crazy scary." i murmured, clutching suna's hand tighter in the cold. atsumu chuckled and shook his head.
"bokuto is nowhere as scary as people chalk him up to he. he's a big idiot, really." atsumu said, making me laugh. the four of us continued to converse for the rest of the walk to school, the cold only making the journey seem even longer than it already was.
after what felt like years, we got to school and walked to the gym, where the bus that would take us to fukurodani was parked.
"hello, everyone. go ahead and get in the bus, we should leave soon." kita said with a smile as we reached the team. i had originally planned to sit next to suna, but atsumu slid into the seat next to me before suna could.
i pulled my jacket tighter around my body, discreetly scooting closer to atsumu so i could get warm.
"if you're cold, kitten, you could just tell me." he said, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. i felt a blush creep across my cheeks, but i leaned into his warmth anyways.
"you nervous for the camp, kisa?" kita asked as he sat in the seat in front of us. i pondered his question for a few seconds before replying,
"no, not anymore."
