A/N: I'm sorry to everyone that I had taken some time off from writing. I don't mean writing just this story... I mean writing completely. Depression has taken one hell of a hold on me and I just didn't have a level head to allow creativity to flow. I have lost some of my passion and it isn't getting better as fast as I want it to. I was able to write this in the last little while and I will try to continue writing for next week.
Throwing myself into work was my way of getting people not to ask why we came back early. I wasn't particularly mad about returning, just disappointed that it happened. Eventually I will get over it, but this heist better be really worth it. We scheduled another meeting when I got back. Another check in meeting that should be really boring and routine.
I stared at the papers in my hands while walking through the usual building. Waiting for the elevator Geoff came up behind me, "Hello Jaxx."
"Geoff. Leaving the kids to their own devices?" I sassed while the elevator door opened.
As we both stepped into the elevator he sighed, "I apologize for cutting short your get away. I tried to push it as far away as possible but only got so far."
I smiled, "I kind of figured that. It's alright."
He nodded and shifted his feet, "To answer your first question the kids will be fine. I needed to be at this meeting today."
Tilting my head slightly, I said nothing else as the doors open and the conference room ahead. After we entered and took our spots other families and gang leaders came in and followed suit. Some were slightly surprised that Geoff was sitting in an actual meeting. He normally skips these things and asks for the cliff notes.
Once everyone was seated and settled Alic stood and began the meeting. Losses. Gains. Territories. Stock market quarterlies. Outwardly connections with whom. Everything was pretty much the same as it was a few weeks ago. There were a few changing numbers but nothing too out of the ordinary.
Geoff seemed more interesting than normal in this meeting, but I didn't think much about it. Until someone's cellphone went off. Several times in rapid recession.
Everyone looked over to that person and looked genuinely annoyed. All except Geoff, he looked cocky and like he was waiting for those texts.
"What the hell is this?" he asks glancing around the room.
As I side eyed Ethan, he finally sat up, "What the hell is what?"
Without answering for a moment the family head glared up at Geoff, "What have you done?"
Alic stopped dead and began to watch the scene, sitting as he did so. As did the rest of us. This wasn't part of the meeting.
Geoff sighed, "It had to be done."
Greyson cut in, "What exactly had to be done?"
"You broke into MY bank and stole from me. With fucking Vagabond. What the fuck?" he surged up out of his chair ignoring Greyson.
Simply looking up, Geoff stayed seated, "You fucked up and needed to be reminded about that. You've now officially been reminded."
Slamming his hands down he looked over at Alic, "I want compensation for this. I will not let this slide!"
Alic chuckled in a mocking fashion, "Not gonna happen."
"Excuse me?! Why the fuck not?"
Sitting up, but keeping a lax dimeter about him, Alic then leaned on the table, "Because I sent them."
Everyone of us Constantines took a look of passiveness and to back up Alic. I had no idea he did this.
"You did what?" The family head was just as confused as I felt, but I had to act like we were all in agreement with what just happened. A house divided.
"Sent Geoff's crew to completely fuck with you. You've been taking more than your fair percentage. Skimming off the top and stealing from us. So, you get fuck all. Now, get the fuck out," Alic stood at the end of his explanation.
He quieted down, but still had the look of pure murder on his face, "You don't know that."
Alic bent over and grabbed a massive brown envelope slamming in down on the table, "Your records and books don't make sense. I had specialist accountants go through everything that you have handed to us and what I could get my hands on. I found decreases in bottom line percentages every month for the last 6 months says that you absolutely have."
You glared at the man and sighed heavily, "You fucked up. You are lucky we are letting you live."
Alic sat back down in a calm manner, "My sister is right. You have the next year to make it up to us. We are taking an extra percent to make up for what you have taken. What you had at the bank didn't come close to what you have taken, so we shall call that interest. Plus Geoff and his crew aren't cheap by any means... Any other questions?"
When no one said anything and the guy sat back down in disbelief. You then smiled, "Fantastic. Meeting Over. Everyone go home."
