As long as they might have been with the dark fog in their minds and hot, deep cutting pain in their hearts, seconds, minutes, hours, even the long days kept passing. As fragile and impossible to control a child's heart might be, at least it is much more capable of weakening the sorrow, even if it means burying it deep inside to come out at the worst possible time. Unfortunately, that is not everyone's case.
Throughout the days he started feeling even weaker than before. He kept wondering if talking to himself at night is helping, or if it's the worst possible thing to do. Yet it was so tempting..
But the way he started overthinking his own thoughts made the part of them which brought him the small bits of joy disappear.
As harmful as it may be, even after being offered to take at least a week off work, Ronan refused. The urge to avenge his wife was strong, he insisted on being there to find out who is the monster that took her from him and his son and making sure to give his family justice. Though, his thoughts were pushing him. They were pushing him to do something more. Each while they kept making him remember what he thought about the moment he saw Zoe for the last time. Even if the day after he convinced himself that what he thought of doing was too much and very wrong, and that he thought of it only because he couldn't think right in that moment, he was never fully able to erase those thoughts from his mind. It felt so wrong, yet so right.
But it was turning out to be a worthless thought anyway. The only clue that could possibly lead him to the killer was the fact that Zoe's ring disappeared. He would love to be able to say that the one who has her ring is the killer, but he knew this was probably not the case. After all, what would anyone take her ring for? The more he thought about it the clearer he thought it kept getting. Thinking about this might have been making him feel worse in a few different ways, but he would do anything for her. He assumed that after what happened that afternoon, how bad it was between them..it was hard thinking about it, but he assumed that she might not have wanted to be with him anymore. She could have lost the ring, yes. But she could have thrown it away. There was also a suggestion from one of his colleagues that Zoe herself was in fact the killer. That she put her hands on her own life. Though, that was before it was discovered that there were no weapons anywhere nearby. It's been such a long time, yet no actual evidence was found. Not a single bit. No clues. The attempts were starting to seem hopeless....
"Is it weird to have everything perfectly planned out?"
Rave immediately laughed at his own question.
"Of course not."
For the past few weeks he has been feeling much better. Even after everything he's been through throughout his own life, all the pain he felt himself before, he couldn't bring himself to not start smiling everytime he thought about how much he is most likely doing for Ronan, even if it's painful for him. What he did was the right thing after all. Zoe obviously wasn't the right one for him. Rave had seen them argue, even if only about small things, countless times. He felt like he was doing him a favor, just like he does for himself. Yet, he still felt the guilt. It still was difficult to overcome taking someone's life and making the love of his life suffer. He knew how it felt to lose someone, yet the guilt wasn't as strong. He still smiled when he found out that nobody even suspects his crimes and that everyone seems to have given up on the case at this point. Everything was going as planned.
"Hmm.. so how long has it been?"
He checked the date on his phone and his smile widened.
"Over two weeks already, huh?"
It was hard for him waiting for this much time to talk to Ronan. He knew well himself that it wouldn't be a good idea just trying to meet up with him immediately, so he had pretty much created a plan with only a few steps, which was turning out to be a great idea so far.
