Rave shivered when the small, microscopic pieces of his body quickly reassembled. Teleportation felt so cold, like millions of small ice cubes ran through his whole body in the span of only few milliseconds. He shook his head to get rid of the freezing feeling and looked around him to make sure the teleporter took him to the correct location. His house, far away from the mess he caused.
Now that it was over and done.. he couldn't tell what he was feeling. But the excessive amount of joy was enough to overwhelm the guilt. He was convinced that what he did was right. It was either the monster who caused him to feel pain for the past ten years, or himself. She had to go. His actions might have been selfish. But what wouldn't he do for his own happiness? What wouldn't he do to save his own life?
Even while realizing the effect this would have on Ronan, that it can scar his heart and mind forever, he knew what he was doing. He will feel better with him than with that bitch after all.
He took his left hand, which was was still closed in a fist, out of his pocket, and slowly started lifting his fingers, to make sure this was not just another dream. That this time it's real. He smiled when he saw the shining ring laying on his palm. This is it.
He stood up and walked over to the living room, wooden floor creaking under his feet each step he made. Before leaving earlier, he made sure to lock the door and close all the curtains. He also prepared a full bucket of bleach inside of one of the cabinets under the shelf with framed pictures of him with his family and friends on the top of it. In the middle, there was a picture of him and Ronan that one time they went to a park together. That one specific picture was incredibly important to him. In fact, he had the exactly same one under his pillow. He smiled again, and this time even more than usually, looking at it, knowing what can now be ahead.
He shook his head once again. He couldnt afford to get distracted now.
He turned around and lit the fireplace. While waiting for the flames to grow bigger, he took off all of his clothes. Making sure he didn't miss anything, even socks, everything that had even the small chance of having any stains on it, he dipped each piece in the bleach from both the inside and outside. Afterwards he threw all the pieces of what now looked just like soaked fabric in the fire one by one. Then he took the knife and dropped it in the bucket of hydrogen peroxide, which he took with him to the bathroom when the fire went out, just in case. Rave locked the bathroom door behind him, put the bucket on the floor and sat inside the bathtub. As the droplets of hot water touched his face and started running down his whole body, he finally felt in peace....
His crying kept getting more and more intense. What's going on? Why is this happening? Did he really mean it? The young boy was still standing in the middle of the hallway, staring at the door his dad shut in the front of his face just a few minutes ago. His words were still echoing in his head. "SHE'S DEAD!" Hugo could still hear his dad's voice in his mind. It kept repeating and overlapping each second. He turned around to run to his room just to see a picture of himself with both of his parents which was standing on a cabinet behind him. Already starting to panic, he turned around quickly and sprinted into his room, slammed the door behind him and jumped on the bed. He buried his face deep in a pillow and started screaming and crying loudly. No. It's not true. It can't be true. His mom, the one person he knew literally forever.. she can't be gone. He kept pushing himself, even though he didn't want to, to remember each of the times she made him smile. Each time she hugged him, cheered him up, or even the times she just helped him with some school work were suddenly the most precious memories. All the moments they spent together.
All the moments they spent together.. like a family....
Why does he keep doing this? Why does he keep running away from reality? From his emotions? From the ones he cares about and who care about him? It's just too overwhelming..
Ronan fell down on his knees and almost broke down again. Why does it have to be so difficult to process the truth? The pain felt like it was never ending and the pressure was building up, even though he was calmer now.
He heard his son's loud sobbing from the other side of the door, but still couldn't bring himself to speak with him. He let the tears flow down his cheeks, but it wasn't because he wanted to cry anymore, it was to clear his head from the pressure and never ending depressing thoughts. The physical pain mostly went away, but it still hurts so much. There was no way he could have prepared for this situation. Why would he? Life was always so nice to them, he didn't have a reason to think about an end. And especially not this kind of end. With no going back. With no hope.
He heard a loud bang and Hugo's sobbing got much quieter.
In that moment he stopped crying, as he started thinking about what happened earlier again. How could he act so insensitive? How could he had done this to his own son? He selfishly stopped thinking about his emotions just so he himself could feel better. This wasn't right. Even if this might not have been the best time for any joyful family bonding, neither of them should be alone right now.
He got up and gently opened the door to the hallway. He looked around, but it was empty."Hugo?"
The door on the other side of the hallway slowly opened with a creaking sound.
"Dad?"
With obvious worry in his face, he looked his son the the eyes, which were full of tears. His hands were shaking but he slightly opened his arms, not even knowing if Hugo would care. To his happy surprise the boy immediately ran towards him and tightly wrapped his hands around him. He felt his head buried in his chest as he kept crying. Ronan hugged him tightly as well.
"I'm so sorry,"
"Everything is going to be okay."
