After my Archery lesson is over, I take off my archery gear and head to lunch. Unlike the werewolves, I don't need to get out of my uniform for PE. I pick up my backpack from the changing rooms before the other girls get in and I head to the dining hall to get my lunch before anyone else. I don't mind waiting in line but I don't want Ryan coming up to me and smacking my lunch tray out of my hands like he has done before in the past - which has left me with no lunch several times.
But, today is just not my day.
As I pass the boys changing room, two of Ryan's pack - Argo and Dylan - come out at the same moment. One blocks my way forward and the other comes up behind me. I try to step around Dylan, but he blocks my way again and forces me to back up towards the lockers as Argo comes at me from the opposite side.
"Not so tough now, are you?" Dylan jeers at me as he throws a punch at me, which I duck away from.
"You'll pay for hurting Stacy, you stupid brat." adds Argo, shoving me with one hand in the shoulder so that it slams into the lockers rather painfully.
I don't respond or react. I don't have the spirit anymore; I deserve it for hurting the Omega I suppose. I bow my head and close my eyes as I wait for them to start beating me up. Before they even touch me, someone else comes out of the boys changing rooms and I immediately brace myself as I wait for them to join in with the fun.
"Get out of here, Omega." snarls Dylan, and I open my eyes to see the Omega - AGAIN. "This doesn't concern-"
Before he finishes speaking, the Omega punches him straight to the ground like he's a lightweight (which he probably is.) Argo's attention is diverted from me and he immediately lunges for the Omega, turning to wolf form as he does so. I watch as both werewolves shift to their wolf forms and rear up on the hind-legs biting into each other's chests and necks as they try to knock the other to the ground; their bags scattering the corridor. There's nothing I can do to help the Omega out as Dylan changes into wolf form and teams up with Argo to knock the Omega down.
Somehow, the Omega fights both of them off and the three of them separate from each other. They all change back to human form and slowly stand up; the Omega's gaze flickering from one male to the other, his back to me.
"I don't understand why you are wasting your time and strength on a stupid, weak-link human." snarls the Omega. "Why don't you fight an actual opponent?"
I decide not to take the insult as offensive because, at this point, I'm starting to get used to being called a pathetic/weak/useless "human". I know I could have probably defended myself if I had let myself change to wolf form, but - as I said before - I've already revealed too much to the Omega as it is.
"Oh so you mean any other werewolf but you?" replies Argo with a growl. "You're not the Omega for nothing you know."
The Omega lets out a loud snarl and says: "That's funny considering I just kicked both your asses right here and now. Now, if I were you, I'd get out of here while you can still walk."
Both werewolves stay where they are for a few more seconds as weak defiance then, casting death glares at me over their shoulders, they trail off to the dining room; trying not to show how much pain they're in and picking their bags up on the way. Pride is a very powerful thing among werewolves, and getting beaten up by the Omega is one of the most damaging things that could be done to them. Maybe the Omega will get an upgrade after that if they tell Ryan about this. They probably won't do they can save face about the fight.
Cowards.
I head towards the dining room after Dylan and Argo. Looks like I will be getting my lunch tray smacked out of my hands this time. Good thing I have extra money in my backpack. Someone shoulder barges me out of their way and I do my best not to fall over from the impact of it. The Omega stops just in front of me with narrowed eyes and a hatred-filled gaze; his backpack now back on his shoulders.
