Christmas at HQ

I spent the rest of the kids' Christmas holidays with them at Grimmauld Place which was now completely unrecognizable from the house that we had lived in during the summer. Mom was allowed to come home a week after the twins were born, and everyone was excited to welcome the babies home.

Sirius' eyes went wide with shock when he saw his nephew and niece for the first time, before bursting into tears and theatrically hugging Mom and Paul. (Why were two of my three uncles such Drama Queens?) Harry was so scared that he'll drop them that he refused to hold them unless he was sitting down somewhere. Fred and George had cackled evilly when they had first seen the twins.

"Look Forge-"

"-itty, bitty twins!-"

"-just like us!"

"-Twins Jr!"

Molly had instantly scolded them and tried to make them promise not to corrupt the babies into their pranking ways. She should have remembered who the twins' heroes were and gotten promises from them, not to mention me as well. Mom seemed resigned to the fact that the kids would be pranksters while Paul was over the moon, grinning widely every time he saw his daughter or son.

Christmas was amazing. Everyone helped to decorate the house and Sirius and I had an amazing time singing carols at all times of the day. To my surprise, my uncle actually had a pretty good singing voice, but he usually joined me and sang horribly off tune.

We would abruptly break into song and before long, the twins (both senior and junior) would join in. (Fred and George with off-beat lyrics and Ezra and Estelle would cry really loudly, giving background sound) It was safe to say that Grimmauld Place was lively and joyful that holiday, the house teeming with noise and laughter.

Apparently, Paul had been thinking of quitting his job at Goode for a while now, ever since they had learnt that Mom was having twins, so that's what he did. We decided to surprise everyone and waited for them to leave for the hospital to visit Mr. Weasley before I vapour-travelled Paul back to the apartment in Manhattan.

We quickly packed everything we needed with magic. I transported all of it to Grimmauld Place while Paul stayed to handle the legal stuff back home. It would be hard not to have Mom so close to Camp, but both Paul and I had seen how happy she was to be reunited with her brother. The sheer joy in their faces every morning convinced Paul that it was the best thing to do.

("She looks years younger, Percy," Paul had confided in me a couple of days ago, "I made a promise to myself that I would keep her as happy as possible when we got married and this is my chance to keep that promise. Besides, I have a lot of family here in England. I can see them more often now. I would love to get to know my brother-in-law better.")

Now that the house was cleaned, unlike summer, we didn't have to share rooms or anything, so it was quite easy to move our stuff into our rooms at Grimmauld. We had the four empty rooms on the top floor of the house. One for Sirius, one for Mom and Paul, one for me and one for the babies. By the time everyone was back, we were settled in. The kids were overjoyed that we were staying, all of them carefully hugging 'Aunt Sally' and 'Uncle Paul' before drowning me in a Weasley group hug, Harry and Hermione joining in.

They told me about the 'DA' club that Harry had started and Sirius and I had a great time demonstrating spells and techniques to them. Sirius had been a Hitwizard back in the day and he knew a lot of interesting spells. Hecate had taught me various defense spells that were riduculously silly, but worked amazingly and did the double task of pissing off the enemy, like 'Anaticula'.

It was my favourite spell and if cast properly, caused rubber ducks to be produced from the enemy's wand whenever they tried to do a spell. The more dark or dangerous the spell, the bigger the duck. It lasted for fifteen minutes before wearing off.
