"lai, can you get me the flour?" raine asked her roommate. she was baking homemade brownies, a favorite of the household.

zane was in her room, at her desk, working on her newest homework assignment. zane took college credits during the summer, so she could get through the four years faster.

"sure, shorty." adelaide replied, getting up from the couch where she was scrolling through instagram. raine was, in fact, shorter than the older girl, but only by a few inches.

adelaide reached up to the cupboard that contained the big glass jar that held flour. her hand felt around, finally finding it. she pulled it forward, only to find out there was a small empty glass jar in front of it.

the small item fell onto the tile floor with a loud crash, and glass shot out on every direction. zane, in the other room, hear the sound, and was reminded of the days when her dad would abuse not only her, but her little brother too.

zane's breathing became tight, and her heart was pounding in her chest. she was experiencing a panic attack. they happened every once in a while, but the two other girls were always there to calm her down.

this time, however, adelaide and raine were trying to clean up all the little glass shards, without stepping on them. it was a hard task, and they forgot all about the youngest who was in the other room.

zane slowly rested her body on the bed, but she was shaking so hard. she tried to surround herself with pillows, but failed as there were only few in the her bedroom.

after getting most of the glass cleaned up, adeliade and raine remembered zane, and the anxiety that comes with loud crashes or bangs. they rushed to the room that the girl was in, finding her shaking and alone on the bed.

"zaney. girl. it was just a jar. it's ok." adelaide and raine embraced the shaking girl, and enclosed her in a safe hug. this seemed to calm her down, because the small body movements stopped. zane's breathing was still quite irregular, but it was getting better.

her heart slowed down, and the tight feeling in her chest disappeared. zane finally hugged her roommates and best friends back, individually. she grabbed the small notebook that laid on her nightstand after, and wrote in it.

"thank you again guys." she gave them both a small smile. adelaide and raine got up from the bed and returned to their spots in the kitchen and living room, as that was their cue to leave.

meanwhile, over at the why don't we house, zach was wondering why zane hadn't texted him yet.

"do you think she saw it?" he asked his band mates, panicked.

"yes." jonah rolled his eyes while taking off his beats headphones.

"well maybe she couldn't read it?" zach ran his hands through his hair.

"that's probable." jack shrugged, not helping the situation. after that remark, he earned a glare from jonah. corbyn hummed in response. he was too busy playing tiny tower to care.

"maybe she hates me?" zach kept coming up with worse and worse scenarios.

"zachary dean herron." daniel finally spoke, looking up from answering his snapchats. "don't worry about. she's probably just busy or something."

"oh right."
