As uneventful as the week had been, I relished in the fact that I hadn't seen Damon since Monday. His usual occupied seat in Art class was empty the days following his ambush.

I wasn't worried about his whereabouts. I didn't have to worry about any run-ins with him on the weekend. When Saturday came around, I was bubbling with excitement over the sleepover me and my girls had planned. I was overzealous; ready to dress up and let loose. I needed this, like yesterday.

I wouldn't have been so anxious for their arrival. I've only ever invited one other person into my home and that was back in D.C. We weren't friends anymore because she turned fake on me. I think her name was Rhonda. She was a bitch in disguise. I didn't find that out until later.

My friends would meet my stepsister today. More so, learn who she was. I was nervous. They were pictures of my father's family hanging all through the house. I didn't know why it bothered me so much. I doubt they would spill the secret to anyone else. Maybe I was thinking too hard about it. Your family shouldn't dictate the make or break of a true friendship.

I open the front door. Not a few seconds later, I see her truck heading my way. The engine cut off. Their bodies spilled from the truck. I hug them both and lead the way.

Here we go...what's the worst that could happen.

Speak of the devil and they will appear. Melody was coming down the steps. Her hair bounced around her face. She stopped then her eyes flick to my friends coming through the door behind me. She looked surprised to see them. I bet they felt the same. Her pouted lips rise in a small smile. This was an awkward moment for all of us. Melody gave them both a once-over before she turned on her heels. I watch her back disappear around the corner.

I peeked on both ways, watching my friend's expression. Savannah looked like she was ready to fight. Anna's expression was unreadable. At least Melody hadn't released her full bitch. There would be a problem then.

Savannah turned to me with a sour face.

"Umm. You could've told me bitch."

Even though she was mean mugging me, I knew she meant no harm. She had a point. It would've been considerate of me to warn them.

I give her a sly look from the corner of my eye.

"Yeah, my bad..."

She looks down the hall where Melody disappeared. "I can't blame you for wanting to hide being related to that bitch..."

Anna added in her two cents next to me.

"Yeah, she was a little rude."

"She's not that bad, come on..."

I climb the stairs, hoping that the conversation would be forgotten by the time we got in my room. I open my door and trail inside. My OCD kicks in as I gathered the clothes on the floor and dropped them in the hamper. I rubbed my hands down my fleece leggings and took another look around my room. It always made me nervous when people did that.
