When I got home the following day, the sun was beginning to set. I turned to shut the door behind my frame. On average I managed to get about six hours of sleep this entire weekend. I was deprived of so much sleep and it was finally starting to hit me.

My tired feet trailed toward the kitchen. The housekeeper was there as I walked in. Like always she busied herself with cleaning, wiping the countertops and putting away the dishes. When she noticed me, she stood from her squatted position on the floor. I grinned when a small smile lifted her lips. Her voice was thick with her Spanish accent when she began to speak. I found myself hanging onto every word. Trust me, otherwise, you'd miss what she said.

"Good evening, Ms. Rome."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her formality. Even after the multiple times I've told her to call me 'Rome' instead of Ms. or Miss, her professionalism never faltered. It must be second nature to her. Maria was small aging woman, with long dark waves that stayed in a low bun at her nape. She was nice and usually stayed to herself. The only giveaway that she was in the house was when Reggaeton music blasted from her quarters. A part of me took pity on the woman because she was wasting her talents cleaning for rich people. I was living with them.

I grinned. "Good evening, how are you?"

I had a huge feeling I was the only person in this house that ever spoke to her. Everyone treated her as if she were an object. Not a human being. I wasn't rude, nor did I feel I was better than the next person. If saw her, I always spoke. What can I say, my so-called family was entitled?

"I'm good." She said with a thick accent. "Mr. West wants to see you after you get yourself together, in his office."

That was never a good sign.

"Okay."

She looked pass me before disappearing behind my back. The woman deserved a day off.

The door to his office was open. Which was another bad sign. Most of the time the door was closed. I could understand his need for privacy. No harm, no foul...The specifics of his job were confidential.

As I entered the office my eyes immediately went to my father's. The tall man was sitting comfortably behind his desk. What I didn't notice was Melody splayed out in one of the sitting chairs in the corner of the room.

She rose her head from the phone in her lap. Then her lips pull upward in a wide smile. Aaron looked up. He dropped in the chair and studies my face. He took off the reading glasses hanging from his nose, placing them lightly on the desk. Snapping his laptop shut, he rests his arms on the table and intertwines his fingers. He got comfortable and leaned back in the chair.

He gazes between me and Melody.

"I requested both you here because I just wanted to see how everything was going."
