Relief soothed my veins as I paste my head onto the door. Rustling sounds snap my head to where the noise is coming from. I see my friends approaching me. My body blocks the entryway hoping to avoid the obvious suspicion they had when I came out from the maintenance room.
My friends eyed me suspiciously. Savannah's eyes flicker past me to the door behind my back. Something told me she was already aware of who was inside. It was obvious I was blocking the door for a reason.
Our showdown during lunch bothered me. Savannah practically shouted her disliking for the jocks every chance she could get. Yet somehow ended up in the mist of their group.
Anna wasn't an angel either. Sticking to her side as if she didn't have a mind of her own. Someone needed to tell them about themselves, it was a conversation we needed to have. I wasn't the type of person or friend to lower my head and stay silent when things didn't sit well with me.
My face remained passive as the four pairs of eyes stared back at me. The moment ended when the door behind me flew open. Damon casually bypassed us, staring off in the distance as he treaded down the hall. As if the last fifteen minutes didn't occur, his frame disappeared into the foyer. At a loss for words, my mouth fell agape, though I never uttered a word. Embarrassment clouded my senses, making it a challenge to find my words.
I puffed my cheeks with raised brows as I shifted my eyes between their stunted expressions. Their thoughts practically revealed themselves on either of their expressions, Anna was shocked into silence, lowering her head in succession while Savannah licked her lips nervously. They knew moments like these made me uncomfortable, it wasn't something I was open to address. My feelings were my own, I may not have agreed with them, but they were my secrets to keep; they didn't need to know everything.
"Are you okay?" She asked me with hesitation.
Wasn't that the question of the century. One that didn't have a simple answer.
"I guess..." I trailed off.
"Got tired of eating lunch with Kings?" I quoted with my fingers.
She turned and I caught Savannah's right eye rolling. Her eyes found mine.
"I'm sorry, I was a bitch earlier."
My lip twisted up in unison, before I nodded my head in agreement.
"I'm sorry about how I reacted outside. Sometimes you can be rude even though I know your just trying to be a good friend."
Anna chimed in beside her. "Yeah, I was an asshole. I should've done something besides just sit there."
I nodded my head, agreeing with my friend. It didn't bother me that Sav could take my words to heart sometimes, but friends were supposed to back each other up. Right is right and wrong is wrong.
"I can't be friends with someone who doesn't speak up about what's wrong..."
Pulling my hands up, my shoulders were hunched, "I can't sit here and say it wasn't fucked up."
