Part 28

** Evie POV **
So i know Zayn doesn't pay attention in class but he's still smart so he can help me. What doesn't help me is him strolling out of the bathroom shirtless with a towel. I know we're not on good terms but come on it's Zayn frickin Malik he's still fit. He has abs now i can tell he's been going gym, Shit i'm caught staring.

After about 2 hours of doing my work now by myself because Zayn decided that he has his own work, i stopped and put my books away. He did the same and we decided to share a big pack of crisps. I was no longer scared i don't know why i felt safe and like i could trust him a lot i thought about what Harry and him said so that made me realise.

"Zayn.. i'm sorry i do trust you i don't know why i said that to Liam i'm sure the knife wasn't even a knife or whatev-" i started but he cut me off. Pulling out the pocket knife and i admit i got a bit scared and backed up.

"Don't be scared here" he put it down "It's not to hurt anyone, it's to protect me and anyone i need to"

"From what Zayn why are you in need of a literal knife it's dangerous" i said still looking at it, it was a shiny black one with date.

"Remember that one person that got attacked really brutally and nearly died" he said. and of course i did because it was such a big deal when it happened.

"Yes what about it no one ever knew who it was" i replied

"It was me Evie. i was the one that got attacked i nearly fucking died" he said quietly looking down at the floor playing with the sleeve of his hoodie. I had no clue what to say. "I carry the knife to protect myself from him i'm never around during attacks because i'm there to try and stop him, i don't use the knife it's there for purposes of scaring him and protecting you guys"

"Zayn.. im not sure what to say i'm so sorry. Why don't you tell the police" i questioned

"Because although i see him i have no clue who it is all i saw was this tattoo but it's useless it's really common" he lifted up the side of his hoodie which reviled a few scars but one that looked the worst the deepest "He stabbed me because i fought back i nearly got away it was his first knife attack. After.. the whole situation in high school i started going to the gym and working out that's the only reason i fought back. I ran away from home, i hardly ever went back" he never once looked at me during this and i felt so bad because i had no idea.

I hugged him so tight because i never wanted him to let go. "I'm so sorry Zayn i wish i knew, you need to tell them soon they'll understand" i said. He never hugged me back though.

"Harry knows. that's why he defended me, i'm not sure i'll tell them soon i just don't know how. I'm trying to figure out how i don't wanna just do it like it's normal" he said, i had a feeling harry knew something.

"I'm glad you kept going after high school and didn't give up" i said

"I kept going for a couple reasons but mainly because i wanted to prove that i was good enough.. toyou" he said the last bit to quick and quiet so i didn't understand.

"what did you say?"

"Nothing important, better update your cousin that your safe he might think i've killed you by now" he said getting up and going to the bathroom.

** Louis POV **
Harry spoke to me and messaged me earlier that i should speak to Liam and get it into his head that Zayn isn't a danger to us. I believe he isn't i think he's innocent and the stuff is just coincidences, he was our best friend for so long my partner in crime. EVEN NIALL TRUSTS HIM.

"Liam" i said while laying on my bed

"What Lou i'm trying to sleep" How rude !

"Uhm excuse me no ! You can't refuse to talk to me because of sleep, it's overrated. Zayn would always stay up with me" i said

"Don't talk to me about him" here it goes

"Look. He was our best friend you need to trust him he wouldn't hurt us i'm sure if you tried to talk to him seriously without trying to attack him he'd explain and give you a good reason as to why he's acting like he is."

" i don't know Lou, you know how his childhood was not exactly great" oh come on this is giving me more reasons

"exactly so he wouldn't want others to feel like that. please take my word for it let's try talk to him after school tomorrow, i'll tell everyone i'm the group chat" i said and he nodded

Louis: Boyos and Evie,
after class tomorrow
meet at the diner near
here. Not up for
discussion.

Haz: Uh i think i
end early so i'll be
there before yous.
In other words
i'm not going to
last class with that
bitch 😁.

Dj Malik: Uh sure,
Hazza i'm skipping
with you.

Payno: I'll be after
my classes because
i actually want to
study.

Nialler: Liam can't
you tell Louis that,
your literally in the
same room.

Payno: Nope we're
not talking i just
he took the last coke.

Eviee: I'll be after
class.

Louis: IT WAS MY
ONE ANYWAY. Well
see you guys then :)

Haz: i forgot this
group existed tbh.

Dj Malik: i thought
i was kicked out
of it.

Payno: You will be
if you don't turn up
and explain
tomorrow.

Dj Malik: is that the
whole reason to meet
tomorrow.

Louis: Maybe but
ignore him.

Haz: Zayn it's fine
they should know.

Evie: Yeah they'll
understand.

Nialler: Oh come
on so everyone knows
but me of course i
always find out last.

Payno: Me and Lou
don't know.

Louis: Anyway see you
all tomorrow friends !

I can't wait for Zayn to explain because apparently both Harry and Evie now know. I hope it's not bad.
