Chapter 2:

When I reach my car, I immediately look around the parking lot and make sure no one is around before taking off my shirt and replacing it with a black, tight fitting tank top and putting my leather jacket on top of it.
I also take off my glasses and replace them with my black Ray Bans. I take my dark brown hair off of my pony tail and tease it to make it look messy but good at the same time.

I always do this before heading off to the underground. If people at the underground ever saw me as the nerd I portray at school, they would have never take me seriously. The reputation I've been working on for years would go to waste.

If it's something I love doing its racing. It's my passion, before my mother passed away, she taught me how to drive. Its the only thing I have left of her. She used to love cars, if a car would've passed by, she would've known what brand it was just by looking at it.

My dad once told me she was an all time champion at the illegal underground races when she was barely a teenager. That single sentence being my inspiration all these years.

When I won the championship just two years ago, I felt on top of the world. I felt like I somehow had a connection with her. Since then I haven't stopped.

Getting out of my thoughts, I look around and see I have stopped and I'm parked right outside the club the races are being held at this week.

I get out of my car and confidently walk to the entrance.

"Hey there little lady," Jimmy, the bouncer says.

"Hi Jimmy, how you been?"

"Good now that you're here," he replies with a smile on his slightly wrinkly face.

I chuckle,"hows the competition? Anybody good?" I ask.

"Not as good as you! But yes there are some alright fellows in there. A lot of newbies today," he tells me.

I chuckle again and look at him in amusement. "Really? Who brought them?"

"Liam. He says he finally found the man who can finally beat you. A load of bull crap if you ask me."

I raise my eyebrows, the amusement still present in my face.

"That boy just never gives up," I say to him, while mockingly shaking my head.

Me and Liam go way back. When I first started competing he was the one who helped me sign up for the races. We had a thing back then, but I only thought of it as temporary. I was even ready to end it when I found him in bed with one of his friend's sister.
I was never heartbroken, there were no feelings to be heartbroken about to begin with. He thought otherwise. He claimed he loved me and that I loved him back. He said he never meant to sleep with the girl. I only scoffed and got away from the bitch faster then he had time to make up another excuse.
Since then, he's been trying to get someone to beat me, he would've done it himself except he has tried and failed many times.

What a little fucker.

Jimmy nods and unhooks the velvety rope to let me pass through.

"Thanks Jimmy, have a nice day and wish me luck."

"You too, and you don't need luck." he says smiling at me.

I smile and wave one final time before entering the club. When I'm inside I see a lot of people grinding on each other, and others just sitting in the bar drinking beer and having a good time. Even for the early time, people still come to the club and have a good time and enjoy the races.

I walk to the bar and order a Tequila shot to have before the race. The bartender gives me the shot and leaves to go attend a couple of more customers, not even asking my age. I guess I do look a little older than I am, but since I'm kind of a regular here, he doesn't bother to ask.

I drink up the shot and place it back in the counter and stand to leave but not before placing down a couple of bills next to the Tequila cup.

I walk towards the back of the club and see another bouncer standing in front of a door marked VIP. To any normal person this door seems to be for VIP only, but to racers like me, it means the entrance to heaven.

"Name." The bouncer commands in a deep voice.

"Stone,"I say purposely only saying my last name. Everybody knows not to call anybody by their first name in the underground, making it seem a little more professional if you ask me.

He nods his head and checks his list and opens the door to let me in without another word.

I walk inside and walk down a hallway making my way to the track. I reach the stadium and see the old bleachers full of people cheering on their favorite racer.

I walk to my mini garage and open it making my baby/prized possession come into view. I walk towards the car and open the hood to make sure everything is okay.

I nod my head in appreciation that I don't have to fix anything and close the hood of the car. I walk to the drivers side and get in putting on my seatbelt.

I drive the car out of the garage and put the car in place to begin the race. I hear the MC's voice start to announce the race and feel the familiar rush of adrenaline and anticipation caused by the race.

"Ladies and gentleman welcome to this years underground racing! I see we have a lot of new faces but amongst all the other racers I see our two year championship Alina Stone!" The crowd goes wild and I scowl at the use of my first name, but feel the surge of completeness go through me. I roll down my window and wave to the crowd, and soon I'm sliding it back up and putting my hands on the wheel ready to start the race.

"Remember the rules, there will be no weapons used whatsoever in all aspects of the race, no hitting other racers' cars, and most importantly no drinking while in the race. Am I clear?"

All fifteen of us, including me, honk our horns in response and turn on our cars to get ready.

"On your marks, get set, GO!"
