Hate That I Love Them

I quickly move out of Brixton's arms and start running around his apartment to grab my things. Looking at me like I'm crazy, Brixton grabs his own possessions that he needs. He makes his way into the hallway where I'm waiting impatiently and bouncing around like a maniac. He only chuckles at me as I race down the hallway to the elevator.

"I'll meet you at your car."

"Where are you going?"

"The elevator's taking too long. James Dean's not going to wait. We still have to get snacks!"

"Call Dexter. He'll get you something on the way to meeting us. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to oblige, he loves you."

I swing open the stair door and as I run down the stairs faster than I ever have before, I dial Dexter's cell phone number.

"What's up, Rei?"

"No time for small talk. Go to the store and get some movie snacks."

"Alright. Answer one question for me. Why are you so out of breath?"

"I just ran down the stairs for James Dean."

"Got it. See you soon."

"Bye."

Dexter hangs up the phone as I pace in front of Brixton's car.

"Kitten, you're going to get yourself and have a panic attack."

"I won't if you open the car door."

He presses the unlock button on the keys, and I open the passenger door for myself because I have hands...that work. Fortunately. I climb into the seat and buckle my seatbelt. Brixton revs the engine, making me giggle, and he swerves onto the street like Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) in Dirty Dancing.

Learn To Fly by Surfaces and Elton John plays on the radio. Not soon enough, Brixton pulls in front of my apartment building, and I practically jump out of the car. The journey up to my apartment is quick and since I already say Dexter and Nick's car, I know my apartment's already open.

"Hey guys!"

"We got snacks!"

"I'm going to change, and then we can go."

I hear Brixton opening and closing my apartment door and saying hello to Dexter and Nick as I run into my room. I change quickly, throwing clothes around my bedroom to find the perfect clothes. Once I find the one I want, I grab my purse with my keys and wallet, and I'm ready to go. I'm about to leave my bedroom when Brixton comes in.

"I need to talk to you."

"Are you okay? Is it urgent? We don't have to go to the movie if you need to talk."

"No, nothing bad. It's not urgent either."

"So can it wait till after the movie?"

"Not really."

"Alright then. What's going on?"

"I'm nervous."

"It's just me."

"That's the problem."

"Alright, well, I would just do it. You never know what I'll say."

"That's another problem."

"Brixton!"

"Okay, okay."

He takes a deep breath before glancing up at me.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"I haven't talked to my parents yet."

"Don't care anymore. I can't stop myself, kitten."
