I cannot believe I am sitting opposite Nick Fury right now! This is such an honor, I obviously have no choice but to accept, but why does he want ME? I was just getting back into high school life...
"Uhh, well... What is it that you need me for, sir?" My voice cracked towards the end, damn it! I've already embarrassed myself enough in front of Fury.
"To put it bluntly, the world is in danger again." He tells me without breaking eye contact. He pauses, for (I'm guessing) dramatic effect. "They're called elementals. They're from Earth-- but not ours. Another dimension. They've since destroyed their dimension and have come into ours to do the same. They are currently wreaking havoc in Prague." He explains as his hands wave about, controlling the holograms of these so-called 'elementals' he tells me about. I watch the holographic animations before me in shock.
"I'm sorry, sir, a-another dimension?" This is fascinating news to me. Wow! I've always speculated about the existence of more dimensions and rips in the space-time continuum but now has my theory really been confirmed? Damn, this is so cool. I try to contain my excitement but I think Fury notices it anyway. However, I'm still not sure if it's really necessary that I, of all people, should be given this responsibility...
My thoughts are interrupted as I see, out of the corner of my eye, a tabby, ginger, cat squeezing through the partially opened door and stalking into the room.
Oh no.
