Harry kept thinking about the little piece of paper. Why did Malfoy want to meet him again. They were together this afternoon, why didn't he just talk to him at that moment. He shoved the tought into the back of his mind and went downstairs to Ron and Hermione.
They were making out as if today was their last day on planet earth. "Oh sorry Harry. I thought you would take longer to get down here." Ron apologized. Harry just nodded and told them he didn't have a problem with it. He really didn't, but it was still weird to see them together. Harry had never seen it coming. He had always thought they hated each other. But Harry was also very oblivious when it came to romance, so it was acceptable.
Everyone gathered into the Great Hall and took a seat. McGonagall wished everyone a happy Halloween and put delicious food on all the tables. Ron immediately went for the chicken tenders and on the other side of the room Harry saw how Luna went for the pudding with a big smile on her face. Harry himself took some steak and beans and enjoyed the meal. He instinctively looked behind him to see Draco already staring at him, though he immediately averted his eyes after he got caught.
Harry turned back around and looked right into Hermione's eyes. "Really what's going on with you." She whispered so that only Harry could hear. "Tell me about it tonight okay. I won't judge what's going on but I know there's something." Harry nodded, he had to tell someone about the weird turn of events between him and Draco. It almost looked like they were starting to become friends and after 7 years of hatred between the two. This really was a rather weird situation to be in.
Harry and Hermione were now in the Common Room. She was piercing through Harry's eyes. "Cmon tell me Harry! Ron's not here for a few minutes so this is the perfect moment for you to tell me what's going on." Harry sighed. He told her about how he went to the Astronomy Tower last week and what they talked about. Hermione was listening with wide eyes, sometimes interrupting Harry to ask him a question.
"And today he left a piece of paper asking me to meet him again tonight." He ended. Hermione had a questionable look on her face. It looked like she was contemplating lots of things at once. "So what are you going to do?" "I'm going. Maybe he just wants to tell me something." Harry claimed. "Be careful Harry. I trust you won't do anything stupid."
"Why would Harry do something stupid?" Ron asked. Harry gave Hermione a 'Do not tell him' look so Hermione simply turned around, smiled at Ron and told him: "You know how he is, I was talking about how he shouldn't pick a fight with Blaise after what happened in potions class." Ron looked at Harry and shrugged. "Go for it Harry. The muggle way! Just punch him in the face." Harry laughed it off and they all talked until Ron said he started to feel sleepy.
Harry and Ron went to their bedroom and just before Harry entered, Hermione pulled him back. "I'm serious Harry, be careful." Harry nodded and went into the room. According to the clock in the room it was now 11:48pm. Ron would definitely be asleep by the time it was 1am.
The next hour was rather boring as Harry couldn't bother falling asleep. Around 12:50am Harry silently got up from his bed and walked to the Fat Lady. From there on he calmly walked his way to the Astronomy Tower. Once there he saw Draco standing at the same spot he was standing last time. Once again, with his back to Harry.
To prevent the same thing from happening as the last time Harry walked up to Draco, he now just coughed in order to draw the blond haired boy's attention. Draco heard him and turned around. If Harry's vision would've been a little better he could have sworn he saw a smile displayed on Draco's lips. Not the usual face of hatred or the usual grin.
"Thanks for coming." Draco said trying to come off as casual as possible. Hearing Draco say thank you was a first for Harry. Never in a billion years would he have thought to hear these exact words come out of the taller boy's mouth. "No problem." Harry answered, trying to match the vibe Draco set.
"You must be wondering why I aksed you to come." He murmured. "Remember how I answered your questions? I actually have a few questions for you as well and I was kind of hoping you'd have an answer."
So that's why he wanted to meet tonight. "Sure Malfoy. I think it's only fair you get your answers as well." Harry answered a little more self assured after hearing the reason behind their midnight-meeting.
"So what do you want to know?" Harry asked. He never thought about how Draco must've had loads of questions as well, he never took notice. "First of all," Draco started, "why did you reject my friendship?" He stared Harry right in the eyes. "Do you want the honest or somewhat honest reason?" Harry awkwardly asked. Draco blinked while he processed what Harry just asked. "Obviously I want the actual reason Potter." He answered quickly after comprehending Harry's question.
The raven haired thought, maybe he should lie for his own good. But that would be unfair considering that Draco told him the truth. So he answered truthfully: "Well, don't take this too personal but you were a little.." Harry couldn't get the word out. "A little what?" Draco asked. "A little bit of a slimeball really. You acted like you were 'it'." Harry choked out. "And you also kind of insulted my friend the second you saw him." He quietly added. "Right." Draco awkwardly gulped. "I apologize for.. All of that." The raven haired boy nodded and they both smiled.
