******************************
Charlie's perspective
******************************I wake up groaning, It's Only Tuesday.. I reach to grab my phone from my bedside table, only to find there is nothing there. I sit up straight, and look around. Everything from yesterday hits me full on. The school, my class, the biters, My family everything. I fall backward back on to roof. I feel tears threatening to fall.
"No no no no no," I mumble. "Why couldn't this just be a really bad dream."
My life is falling apart, the world is falling apart and here I am a average 14 year old girl in the middle of it all alone.
"Couldn't get any worse then this." I mumble to myself. Sitting up I hug my knees to my chest.
"This is really happening, zombies." I shake my head. I grab my phone and check instagram again. For any new posts, new likes anything. Some kind of human interaction.
Nothing, there's nothing. I close my eyes. Breathing in and out.
"This is really happening, this is happening. Your parents are dead, your sisters dead, for all you know your all alone in this area!" I start to panic.
WHAT IF IM ALL ALONE!
"No, Charlie calm down. Your not all alone. Some one else is out there."
I take a deep breath. I feel my stomach growl. I turn my head to the window I climbed out of. I jump up and carefully crawl to it.
"You never know." I pull a knife out of my belt and hold it I'm front of me. Unsure how to use this weapon to attack. I shake my head.
Carefully I pull myself through the window. Peeking around each corner. All sense alert, I'm practically sweating. Im Terrified.
I check all the rooms. So far nothing. I get to the stairs and stare at the gaping hole that is my door. I frown. It isn't really safe here anymore. I walk down the stairs quickly. Constantly Looking for a Zombie. Once I decide the house is clear I push a shelf in front of the door. Better than nothing. I walk to the kitchen and hear a growl. I freeze and panic. I turn around slowly, fearing the worst.
My hand reaches for a knife. I turn all the way Around ready for a fight.
"Umm hi doggy?" I look down dog. It growls again bearing it's teeth.
"Crap shhh, uh don't bite me." I put my hands out in front of me.
"Are you hungry?" My eyes never leave the dog, I reach blindly behind me for a tuna can. I grasp the can and kneel down.
"Here you go." I open the tuna can and slide it across the floor to the dog.
The dog looks at me, then back to the food, before back to me.
I sit down careful to not disturb the dog.
"Go ahead." I point to the food.
The dog dips down to eat the tuna, for the first time since I ran from school I smiled.
"Want some more?" I laugh as the dog finishes the tuna and looks at me, wanting more.
I grab another tuna can and slowly walk towards the dog,
"Hey do you have a name?" The dog growls as I get closer, I stop moving. "Hey I'm not going to hurt you." I hold the tuna out in front of me with both hands. I slowly take another step forward. The dog doesn't look up from the tuna can in my hand.
"Here you go," I lean down to place the can in front of the dog. "Can I pet you now?"
I slowly move my hand to the dogs matted fur. The dog allows me to pet it.
"You need a bath." I laugh, smiling as I rub the dogs back. "And a name, you don't have a collar."
The dog rolls over onto it's stomach.
I smile, "I'm going to call you Leo, ok?"
Leo's ears snap up and he pants rubbing his head into my stomach.
"Now lets get you bathed." I jump up and walk to the bathroom. "Come on."
Leo follows along behind me. I hum as I run the bath water, I look down at the dog. I'm alone, and I don't have to worry about Callie joining me and making me sound horrible so I start singing,
"You don't have to try so hard,
You don't have to give it all away,
You just have to get up get up get up you don't have to change a single thing.
You don't have to try try try try
You don't have to try try try try
You don't have to, you don't have to try."
I carefully pick up Leo and place him in the warm water. Rubbing his back and scrubbing his fur I watch the water change colors. From clear to brown.
"You were a dirty doggy weren't you?" I drain the water once I think he's clean enough.
He looks up at me, my eyes widen.
"Oh no." I Jump up and bolt.
I feel the water spat against my back. I stop and turn around.
"Really you had to shake?"
Leo walks over and runs his head against my legs.
I roll my eyes, "ya ya I still love you."
I sit down and laugh as he plops onto my lap.
Now I'm not all alone.
