"DITO, MONICA!" tinawag ako ni Marzh sa isang banda. Nandito kami ngayon sa Meoto Iwa, Ise. Sobrang ganda ng tanawin dito lalo na ang rock formation na nasa dagat.
I smiled and she took a picture of me. Lumapit sa akin si Gabriel kaya pinag-krus ko ang braso ko sa braso niya at tiningnan namin ang Wedded Rocks, ang main reason kung bakit dito namin napiling pumunta.
"Did you know that these two rocks symbolizes Husband and Wife?" biglang tanong ni Gab. Napangiti naman ako dahil sa totoong meaning ng dalawang batong nandito.
"The rope that a binds them is a re-bound in a ceremony each year," dagdag pa niya at tumango-tango na lang ako't nakinig sa kaniya.
"Is that so?" nakangiti kong tanong habang pinakititigan ang dalawang bato na may tali na nagsasama sa kanila.
"Mhm." Nanatili kaming tahimik at nakatingin sa Wedded Rocks.
Bigla na lang niyang hinawakan ang left hand ko at pinakititigan iyon. Maya-maya, naramdaman kong may sinuot siya sa ring finger ko.
I looked at the gold ring, walang kahit na anong bato ang nakalagay doon yet I was still shock by its beauty and the reason why Gabriel slid it on my finger.
"What is this for?" I asked him, still looking at the ring. Ginto ang kulay niya at para siyang itinali lang na nag-form ng knot sa taas.
"It's the knot ring..." mahina niyang sabi, still looking at the rocks in front of us.
"The ring symbolizes a knot that is not quite yet, but has all intentions of being tied." I still don't get it. Bakit niya ako binibigyan ng singsing?
"It's a promise ring..." he looked at me straight to the eyes and I can feel my heart throbbing and beating on its different pace.
"W-what?" I stuttered because of his looks that is hypnotizing.
"I want to promise something..." he stated without breaking the eye contact.
"What do you mean?" tanong ko, bigla na lang bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko gaya ng laging nangyayari sa tuwing malapit siya sa akin.
"I'm leaving. Mag-aaral na ako sa Amerika." Rinig ko ang lungkot sa boses niya. Pumunta siya sa likod ko at niyakap sa likod at inilagay ang baba sa balikat ko.
"That's why, I want promises, I want commitment, I want you." bulong niya. Tumulo ang luha ko pero tumaas ang sulok ng aking mga labi. Naghalo ang lungkot at sayang aking naramdaman pero nangibabaw talaga ang lungkot ko sa nalaman.
"Then it's a yes." Tumutulo ang luha kong sabi habang nakangiti. Hinarap niya ako sa kaniya at nakita ko siyang nakangiti.
"I promise... you will never regret anything." I chuckled while crying. My first boyfriend, my first man, my first kiss, and my first everything.
I'll make sure that he will be the first of everything. Inalis ko ang singsing na nasa right hand ko. It's Daddy's gift when I turned 16.
It's a wedding ring actually, but it was only one. "Here's my promise ring." Nanginginig ang kamay kong sinuot ang singsing sa pinkie finger niya.
I can feel my heart beating so fast, happiness filled my insides yet a part of it was cast down. I don't want him to leave, but I can't do anything. It's his studies, he needs it.
"I promise to be faithful, to trust you, to love you, and it will always be you inside my heart." naramdaman ko ang labi niya sa nuo ko.
Ipinikit ko ang mga mata ko at dinama ang labi niya duon. "I promise to wait for you, to love you unconditionally, I will never stop until you say so."
Marami ang tao ngayon at alam kong pinagtitinginan na kami ng karamihan pero wala akong pakialam. Ang mahalaga sa akin ngayon ay kasama ko siya habang may oras pa.
Siguro nga hindi ito ang right time para sa amin. But I know that someday, there will be a perfect time for this relationship.
Naramdaman ko ang kaniyang malambot na labi na dumampi sa labi ko. It's like our very first kiss, a delicate and passionate kiss.
Napangiti ako habang magkadikit ang aming labi. I can feel the butterflies on my stomach and the world was now rotating slowly on its orbit.
Nang maghiwalay ang aming mga labi, I suppressed a smile. He was still holding my cheeks and he was smiling while looking at me too.
"We'll go back here, in the same place and position, on the same date... July 13th, where we promised and gave our hearts to each other." Tumango ako at niyakap siya like this was our first and last hug.
"I love you." we said it on chorus. We both dared ourselves to love each other and he's the pain that I've never regretted, I'll do anything to revive the future embers of our lives, and I will wait for him and for the right time to love.
