I healed up, it was my only choice considering Daryl made damn sure I did. Liam made sure he found out if the guy who basically forced himself on me, was still alive or not. No one found his body or reanimated body. In someways that was good news. I was prepared to help out again. I told Rick and Daryl I would regardless of what was to happen next. Maybe it would be with the fighting, maybe it would be building, maybe just watching the kids while their parents fought. I wasn't ready to fight, my calf muscle was torn it would take more than just a week to fix. I helped with all the preparations, I marked outposts, I marked times, people, and everything I could find out. The radio Jesus stole was given to me and that's how I found out. We had help from Dwight who gave us exact locations and number of people. The only issue I had left to deal with was Liam.
"Mom, I can fight. I have to. I have to be able to do it for you, Glenn, Abraham. Sasha. Everyone else we've lost too. Rosita can't fight. Michonne can't." Liam begged me to let him fight. Help out with the fight. I sighed and rubbed my head. "Mom. Please."
"Under two conditions. The first- you get Dad's approval. Two- you get the approval of every town leader. Maggie. The king. Rick. Jesus. You'll also ask someone to stay with them. I'd prefer you ask Rick or Aaron. Morgan. Dad. Someone. You don't get to do this alone. Got it?" I looked at Liam with a straight face. He nodded and smiled.
"Thank you, mom!" Liam started to walk away but I grabbed his hand and stopped him.
"You listen to me, you listen to everything you are told. You don't ask a second time. You don't say 'what?' You just listen. Alright? Don't be stupid." I sighed as I pulled Liam in front a hug. I held him right to my chest and sighed as I did. "I love you, kiddo. I always will."
Liam was told he could fight. Rick was the first to okay Liam coming. Then Daryl. Then everyone else. Aaron offered to keep Liam with him. I was eternally grateful for him to. The day finally came. The truth was, I was the most nervous. Watching Liam grow up in just a few days. It's time to say goodbye.
"You have ammo, plenty of water just in case, holsters? Right. Make sure you strap it too right? You ate, right? Full mag? Check it." I was checking over Liam and he smiled and looked at me. "Liam. Check it."
"You've has me check it three times already, Mom." Liam held my hands and smiled at me. "Mom. It's okay. Take this. I want you to open it after we've left."
"Promise you'll try to be safe? That you'll do whatever it takes to keep yourself safe. You'll protect everyone that you can, but not at the cost of your life. Promise me right now." I tried to keep the tears from settling in my eyes but, it wasn't worth it.
"Y/n, he understands. He's going to do everything. He knows." Daryl came over and wrapped an arm around my waist. I smiled and blinked away the tears. "We'll win."
"I know, I just- I- I need you to promise me you'll be safe. That you'll come home. That I won't be a mother without a child, or a girlfriend without a boyfriend." I sighed and hugged them both at once. When we pulled away it was time to go. "I love you both."
"Love you too, Mom." Liam called back as he got in the car with Aaron and Eric. Daryl waited, he let everyone leave and gave me a kiss.
"I'm coming home. This isn't goodbye." Daryl planted another kiss on my lips. I nodded and smiled.
"I'll be waiting. For that ring too." I kissed Daryl once. He shook his head.
"That was a goodbye kiss." He whispered as he leaned down and pulled me in closer. His lips met mine and I felt every moment I've had with him.
I groaned as I rolled out of bed, Daryl was passed out next to me. I popped my back and stood up. I peeked at Daryl as I grabbed one of his button ups. I slung it on and smiled as I looked in the mirror. I pulled on a pair of shorts and smiled. I walked around back to my side of the bed and opened the nightstand. I started digging around for a lighter when my waist was grabbed and I was brought crashing into the bed. Daryl was on top of me hovering over me.
