The Magazine

Ari sprinted outside of the store to see two vehicles up in an inferno, the flames were ten meters high. The heat washed over his face, it was only across the street, where the vehicles exploded. A woman walking along the sidewalk stops next to him, she looks over at the inferno and looks up at Ari and says, "Familiar sight?" He looks down at her, "What?" She smiled, "I can see you're looking at that murder scene like you seen it before. Fight in a war?" He doesn't say anything, he decides to walk home with his six pack.

The Lady walks into an office building and walks into an elevator, a person tries walking on, she holds her hand out. The door closes. She presses the following buttons on the elevator, "12 - Door Open - 16 - 3 - 11 - Door Open - 9." The elevator goes down, it takes approximately two minutes before the elevator comes to a stop and the door opens. She walks inside the room and faces a window, walls painted bright red. Inside the room, a man sits on a red velvet couch in front of a fireplace. A microphone descends down to the right of him, he grabs it and speaks into it, "Greetings Lady L. We have pleased you, yes?" She doesn't speak. "Good. We have provided for you, it is now your time to provide for us. Do you understand?" She smiles. The man says, "You will go to Lancaster's Kebab and Deli, you will meet Barry. What you will do for us is transport documents to me. He cannot arrive here, if he does, he will die. Do not ask any questions. Understood?" 

At the scene of the explosion on Willard Blvd, Agent Rainier was on sight inspecting the Ford Explorer. The people inside were completely disintegrated, nothing was left of them. The ID's came back from the Coroner Office, the driver was a man named David Peterson, the passenger was a woman named Naomi Abruzzo, who's a young filmmaker and actress in Hollywood. Agent Rainier is interviewing a colleague of Naomi, the producer of her movie which was set to release in September, 2001. "It's a tragedy this happened." Rainier was inspecting his documents before asking questions, "Ok... Phillimore Landus, will you please inform me of who this person is?" He shows a photograph of David Peterson, who's the driver, "Ah yeah I know who he is. He's a professional driver, he's Naomi's personal stuntman, like, if she's doing any film, he's always going to be the stuntman for most male actors in the movie."

A man is unconscious on a tarp on a beach. Two men in suits place a raft in the water, they lay the unconscious man on the raft. One looks to the other, "A real dream come true huh?" 

The other one stands up and looks down at the unconscious man and says, "The Witness, were you informed of him?" He shakes his head. The Car Phone in the Lexus LS400 started ringing. "You push him out. I'll get that." 

Over the phone, he is told, "I was near the harbor after it happened."

She would stir the pot of tomato sauce for about an hour, she looked to her right and saw herself holding a piece of wood. She screamed at the top of her lungs. 

In a feverish dream Ari had that night, he saw an old Albanian Man sitting in a Golden Room, wearing a blue dress suit and a golden tie. The old Albanian Man held a phone to his ear, he said, "Seen your heart sore, got torn up in the past once. Casted wings are almost stubs now."

Lady L looks down on the pavement, she sees a dried up puddle of blood on the cobble like she heard over the phone. She looked up to see the Ghost of her sorrows and fears. A roar of a voice fills her mind, she doesn't understand what she's hearing and loses her vision. The roar ends, her vision comes back, she sees a train enter the station and she's sitting next to the exit. She looks to her right to see a map of the area, she sees that she is just north if Imperial, California. About a mile and a half from the Train Station is Lancaster's Kebab and Deli. 

A black man walks into Pop's Corner Store, he asks him, "Do you know where we are?" Pops answers politely, "You're on Willard Blvd, in Ontario, California?" The man looks confused, "Ontario... Canada?" Pops shook his head, "No..." The black man grabs his pistol and aims it at Pops, "Tell me where I am nigga!" Pops doesn't flinch, "Ontario..." The black man lowers his firearm, and stares blankly at a magazine below the register, "I seen her before." He grabs it, on the cover is a photograph of Noami Abruzzo. 

On the headline of the magazine it says, "The beautiful and brilliant, Naomi Abruzzo, is dead! Read now to find out the details of her grizzly murder, and the possible affair she was having with the late David Peterson; her mysterious personal friend and Stuntman and lover!?"

The black man walks out of the store, Pops follows him and when he opens the door and looks, the man is gone. He looks up at the bright mid-afternoon sun and says, "The War has started huh?"
