Pairing: Platonic! Avengers x Child! Reader x Platonic! Loki

Warnings:

A/N: Someone please tell me why my hands are so cold. It's the dead of summer, temperatures are higher than high, and I'm literally wearing a pair of gloves while writing this. And a 3 in 1 crib is where it's a crib and you change it to a twin bed, then a full bed as the child gets older. I started this a about 10:30 pm and finished this at midnight. I'm great.

===============================

It was a peaceful night in New York City.

That was rare.

     No horns were honking, no tires squealing, sirens blaring, or people shouting. It was almost as if New York itself was tired. There was almost no one walking the streets. Even Earth's mightiest heroes were asleep. Save for one.

     Bucky was walking down one of the many concrete pathways, trying to clear his thoughts. His mind was still plagued by the events of his past life. And because of this, the poor man couldn't sleep. The nightmares were relentless. They refused to let him sleep. So instead of lying in bed, he decided to go for a walk. He strayed no more than two blocks from the tower. He kept his head down, listening to the sounds around him.

A stray cat meowing, the tires of a car against the pavement, the soft music from a store, a baby crying-

He stopped dead in his tracks.

A baby crying. And by the sounds of it, the child was close.

     Bucky quickened his pace till he reached an alleyway. As he crept into the dark, he pulled out a hunting knife that he kept hidden in the pocket of his pants. The man didn't know if this was a trap or not. It could just be his mind. It was known to play tricks on itself. He reached a dumpster and crept around it, his guard up.

As he rounded the corner of it, he saw a box. And in that box, was a child. A baby to be exact. And that baby was you.

     Bucky panicked for a second. It's been so long since he was in a situation similar to this. It was way back in the '40s. His younger sibling had just been born and he got to hold them. He was pulled from his thoughts by the shrill cry coming from you. He put his knife away and crouched down.

     You had to be no older than six months. You opened your eyes and stopped crying when you saw him. You cooed gently at him and flailed your arms around. Bucky carefully reached in the box, sliding his hands underneath you and the blanket. He picked you up from the box and cradled you in his arms. He made sure that you were properly covered with the small blanket before he looked around. He looked to both ends of the alleyway; hoping to find some sort of clue as to who you belonged to. His eyes finally landed back on the box. Inside, was a piece of paper.

He crouched down, holding you in his metal arm. He picked up the paper then read it. The message inclosed slightly tugged at his heartstring.

To whoever finds this,

I'm not able to raise this child. The life I have is not suitable for them. I would've left them at a home, but I don't have the time. I must leave as quickly as possible. Please, give them the life I couldn't.

Thank you.

At the bottom of the letter was some information about you. Things such as your date of birth, your name, eye color, etc. Bucky put the letter in his pocket and looked down at you. You cooed once again.
