In the dim yellow light of my study lamp, I bent my head over my table and continued writing the fan letter that I had finally decided to send to Kyung Jae. That was my fifteenth attempt to write without a mistake. I had so much to tell him that I could not frame my feelings in words. After I finished writing it, I decorated it with all my might, hoping if only Kyung Jae read it, he would be able to see my heart through it. I carefully placed some cute stickers, matching my expressions, in between lines with craft tweezers. I smiled all by myself. I had been working on that letter showing off all my craft skills, for nearly 2 hours. I was so engaged in it that I hardly realised how fast time passed.

Right then, I heard someone clutching the doorknob and saw Byeol barge into my apartment. It shocked me to death. As a result, I unintentionally made a huge line on the letter with the marker I was using.
"Hey, Sung Hee! You free today? Found a great cordog place near this appartment. Wanna check it out sometime?"
"God!.....HEY!! Why did you enter all of sudden like this?!! I was so shocked! LOOK what you made me do!"
Byeol bent over the table apologetically and had a look at the fan letter.
"Ahh...... It was for him? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to....." she said, holding her ears.
"It's fine! Well, this one's completely destroyed. I guess I'll just have to write another one."
"No...Come on! Tell me you won't write that again...Look at the number of letters you have already discarded. These crumbled papers are lying all around the floor. Just send it like that. Anyway it's not like he will really read it, but more that the letter it's your love that matters the most. The rest of it is pretty. Just send it."
"Even though I know he won't read it. Probably his manager will see it and just let it lie around. Still how can I send it like this?" I started whining.
"What's the big deal? You are just a fan. He is a celebrity."
"No, I love him...."
"Hey! It can be called love only when the person loves you back."

I somehow ended up sending that particular letter itself to Kyung Jae, that day.

I randomly remembered that incident while heading to work that day. In the last few days, all I had been thinking of, was about Jo Yeong or Kyung Jae. The same person ultimately. I shook my head to get rid of the thought and continued driving to the palace.
As soon as I reached, Lady Noh called for me. She had asked me to tail Tae Eul as she would be dressed as a bodyguard and be with the King for the day.
"I want you to disguise as a normal citizen, in ordinary casual wear and go after them. Mainly the guest. Lieutenant Jeong Tae Eul. Tell me everything you saw about her, at the end of the day."
"Uh...."
"And make sure, His Majesty doesn't see you. He'd be furious if he knew I'd sent you to tail his guest."
"Yes, Ma'am." I answered negligently.
"His Majesty is already getting prepared for his appointments. You won't have time to go to you place and change. Some workers will help you with your look, here into the palace. Please cooperate. I hope you understand Miss Seung Ah."
"....Yes, ma'am."
I closed the door of Lady Noh's office behind me as I came out and took a deep breath. I lifted my head up and saw two lady workers of the palace bowing to me.
"We recieved orders from Lady Noh to get you ready ma'am. We'll lead the way."
I bowed back to them, and followed them. They took me to a room near by. Every room it the palace was so detailed and beautiful. All the enormous wooden doors bore the the royal symbol of Kingdom of Corea in gold. The rooms had heavy dull coloured silk curtains, which seemed to start from the ceiling. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling. It was a spacious room made to look like a walk in wardrobe because of the number of dress hanger stands they had arranged in there. They showed me rows of casual wears. Jeans, tops, shirts, caps etc.
"Would you like to put some accessories too?"
"Ah...No....it's fine. I'll just put on anything. You can choose anything. I don't really have a choice."
"Why don't you go with this ma'am? This would bring out the colour of your skin..." one of them said, showing denim dungarees and a white t-shirt to go with it.
"It's not like I'm going out on a picnic. That doesn't match my usual style, don't you think?" I asked politely, smiling and raising my eyebrows.
"Lady Noh ordered us to dress you as differently as we can."
I didn't have any other choice. I dressed up in that. I came out of the changing room and looked at myself in the full length mirror. It felt like looking at my old self 'Sung Hee' once again.
"If not accessories, Lady Noh asked you to put on a cap at the least." The lady worker said handing me a white cap. I wore the cap and hung a sling bag across my shoulder.
