3rd Person
In the middle of the normally quiet forest, the pained cries of a wolf echoed through the trees. These cries might have seemed like an animal getting attacked, but the she-wolf was actually giving birth.
The She-wolf had brown fur and strange, silver eyes that seemed to have a weird kind of power behind them. This was Lupa, the roman goddess of wolves.
After a few minutes, the wailing of the wolf was replaced with that of an infant. One of the dryads who helped birth the child spoke. "its a Boy!" and handed Lupa her son who quieted immediately at her touch.
Neither the dryad nor the goddess spoke, both waiting for the boy to open his eyes. When he did, both of them gasped. The to be named boy had simple silver eyes like his mother, but there was one key difference, his eyes didn't have any pupils(the part of the eye that you see out of). He couldn't see!
Lupa began to cry. She may have been raped by that scoundrel Lycaon, but she still cared about her newborn son. The five senses we're important to any creature, but wolves we're natural hunters, and they use them all the time, but the sense of sight was arguably the most important, and he didn't have it.
The dryad tried to comfort the wolf goddess but didn't succeed until Lupa noticed her son was laughing and couldn't help but smile. "What are you going to name him?" The dryad asked
The she-wolf(who was now in her human form) thought for a minute, "Perseus," she said, "if he is going to survive in this world, he will need to inherit the luck of his predecessor."
The dryad smiled sadly, "yes, it's a dangerous world out there. Especially for a werewolf, and that's ignoring the fact that he's blind."
Time Skip. (Percy is 10 years for old)
It was nearly midnight and a man who looked about 30 years old ran through the trees. He had blood-red eyes that seemed to glow in the dark night. This was Lycaon, the first werewolf.
He ran through the woods towards the Wolf House. Once inside he picked up his sleeping, 10-year-old son and ran back the way he came.3rd person Percy POV
When Perseus woke up and opened his unseeing eyes, his nose was bombarded with smells that he didn't recognize. But that wasn't what he was scared of. He was scared because he couldn't smell his mother anywhere. "Hello?" He called
His voice was answered by a gruff yet vaguely familiar one. "Hello, my boy, what is your name?" The voice asked,
"Perseus," the boy wolf replied, "who are you?"
"My name is Lycaon, ex-king of Arcadia and the first werewolf, but most importantly, I'm your father." Perseus was immediately scared again, his mother had told him about his father and how he was evil.
"What do you want?" Perseus asked bravely
"Well, if you think I want to hurt you then you are sorely mistaken. I want you to join my pack. I don't have an heir. A king without an heir is like a tree without roots. I need you."
"True, but I have an analogy also. A hunter without sight is like a stool with a missing leg." Perseus replied sassily.
"You're blind?" Lycaon asked with rage in his voice. Perseus nodded, "your condition makes you weak! And I will tolerate, no weak links. Get out of this camp, before I tear out your throat!" He demanded,
"Gladly," then the boy stood from the ground in which he was sitting, shifted into his wolf form, and ran off away from the camp.
After running alone for about 30 minutes, Perseus smelled a person up ahead. He walked towards the smell, and the longer he walked, the stronger the smell got and soon, he was close enough to talk to them. So he shifted back to human form and spoke, "Hello?"
Once they spoke, Perseus recognized them as a man, maybe around 25 years old. "Hey there, would you like to join me?" The man asked kindly, Perseus nodded and sat with him on what seemed to be a log.
Perseus noticed multiple different smells near where they were sitting. The log, a campfire with extra wood, some crackers, a bag of strange cylindrical objects and a few tiny pieces of something that smelled suspiciously like the cocoa beans that used to grow near the wolf house.
"My name is Apollo by the way," the man said, "what's yours?"
"Perseus," he replied giving the god the best bow he could without falling off of the log. "What brings you to this humble forest?"
"I don't know," Apollo said, noticing that the boy was always looking straight forwards when he talked, "I just had this feeling you know? I just felt like I was supposed to be here. What about you?"
Perseus got really nervous, would Apollo kill him if he told him? "I uh, I'm the son of Lupa, and uh, Lycaon. Lycaon needed an heir, so, he raped my mother, and as a result, I was born. Lupa raised me, and then, when I turned ten, Lycaon kidnapped me and brought me to his camp. That was last night. And so this morning when I woke up, I talked to my father for the very first time. H-he wanted me to join his pack, but, then he noticed my... condition... the condition that I've had since I was born."
"You're blind," Apollo finished for me with realization in his voice.
"Yeah, so I left, and that led me all the way here."
Apollo chuckled, "quite the story you got there kid, but I believe you. I'm the god of truth, I can normally tell when people are lying."
It was silent for a few minutes but Perseus broke it, "Hey, Lord Apollo,"
"Yeah? Also please, just Apollo. Calling me a Lord only makes me feel old."
Percy nodded, storing that information for later, "What should I do now?"
The god paused in thought until he came up with an idea. "Well Percy, I don't know what you should do. But I know what you could do."
Perseus was about to give up, but after the last sentence, the sun god had his curiosity peaked. He put his hand out in a 'go on' gesture.
"You could become my champion, carry out special missions for me with different jobs. And I can teach you to use a sword. That way you can protect yourself. I would teach you to use a bow, but that wouldn't really work if you can't see. You'll get new ability's too, increased strength, speed and stamina. But most importantly, you'll be able to sense sound waves. You can't control them, but you can use it to sense where things are around you. Like replacement eyes, or echolocation"
Perseus grinned, "I accept lord Apollo." The god placed his hand on his champion's shoulder, and Perseus was enveloped in a warm golden glow.
"Ok Percy, I have to go, Jupiter just called a council meeting and I don't want to be late. While I'm gone, try to think of a last name, you'll be going into the mortal world a lot."
"Wait! Apollo!" Perseus called, and the god paused, "what did you call me?"
"Percy?" Apollo said questionably,
"Percy," the boy said, "I like it. I'm Percy!"
Apollo laughed and stood up, "see you later Percy. While I'm gone I'll see if I can get you a sword from Vulcan. Stay sunny!" then he flashed out.
Percy facepalmed at his patron's pun and then tried to figure out the sound wave/echolocation thing Apollo told him about.Apollo pov. 1st person
I gave my new patron the shameless pun and flashed out. I reappeared outside the throne room and walked inside. I grew to my godly height of 15 feet and walked sat on my throne.
I was a little bit late but I'm always late so nobody suspected anything. I think.
Uncle Neptune broke the silence first, "Brother, why have we been called to the council?"
"I'm not the one to ask actually," Father said
It was Diana who continued, "this morning I sent three hunters to spy on Lycaon's pack. they came back saying things like a new werewolf in the pack. This confused me. Lycaon rarely appoints new pack members so I looked into their memories to find out what happened."
While I was starting to get nervous, I had to play it cool or else the others would know something was up. "there was indeed a new wolf in the pack." Diana said "He looked about 10 years old and he had visible similarities to Lycaon. They weren't close enough to hear the conversation but we were able to make out parts like king, heir, stool, tree and roots. I don't know what happened but the young boy shifted and ran away rather quickly."
"Did your hunters follow him?" I asked her, and she shook her head,
"they wouldn't have been able to keep up. This wolf is fast."
I nodded keeping a straight face, but on the inside, I was celebrating. They don't know he's blind which means people will continue to underestimate him!
"So the heir of Lycaon is on the loose." Father said, " Diana, I want you and your hunters to look for this werewolf. Find him, and kill him. Council adjourned."Time skip 1 hour
"Ok Apollo, what do you need my help for?" Vulcan said with a hint of annoyance
"I need a sword," I told him,
He laughed, "why should the archer god be needing a sword."
"Because it's not for me," I said.
"Who's it for?"
"Well, I recently appointed a champion. He needs a sword."
"Okay, I'll get him a sword," he said, getting my hopes up, "on one condition."
I groaned "there's always a catch. What would you like in return?"
"Nothing much, I just want to meet the kid." He said with a shrug.
"I can do that, but you need to swear on the Styx that this will stay between us."
He looked at me a little weirdly but swore the oath. I placed my hand on his shoulder and flashed us to Percy's location.
We reappeared a few metres behind him. He sniffed around a little bit, telling me he knew we were there. "Hello, L-, Apollo. Who's that with you?" He asked me. Vulcan stared at me, asking a silent question. I looked at him like, 'I'll explain later' and he nodded.
"I'll get to that. I have good news and bad news, what do you want to hear first?" I asked him,
He shrugged, "good news, I guess." He said as he turned to us, revealing his stone grey and unseeing eyes.
"The good news is that I brought Vulcan with me to help get you a sword," I told him,
"Nice to meet you, Lord Vulcan." He told my brother.
After returning the greeting, Vulcan looked at me. "Is he the-"
"Yeah, I take it you now understand why you can't tell anyone about this?" He nodded, after telling the forge god that Percy was blind and basically everything that Percy told me, we continued explaining the situation to Percy, "Ok, Percy the bad news is that Diana and her hunters are looking for you."
"First of all, dang it! Second, it was bound to happen at some point, and third, you said I was getting a sword?" He said,
"Yup," I said "Brother?"
Vulcan nodded and pulled out a black leather necklace with a wolf pendant on it.
Percy put it on and tugged on the pendant and it stretched into a Greek Xiphos. "It's balanced," he noted
The Forge god nodded, "it's enchanted to grow with you as you get older. That way it will always remain balanced and you can use it forever. And it's made of an imperial gold and silver alloy. I call it sun-steel. It's the same material as Apollos arrows. It's called ximerotís."
"Daybreaker" Percy translated easily as he switched it back to the necklace.
Vulcan stood, "I must be going now. See you later kid, and good luck avoiding the hunters." Then he flashed out.
"Cmon Percy, we should start packing this stuff up. You can't stay in the same place for more than a day or so. The hunters are probably tracking you right now." I told him.
When we were finished we stuffed it all in a magic backpack that was specifically made for a wolf and put it on Percy's back. Then Percy ran off trying to get the hunters off his tail.
After he left I used my godly energy to cover up his tracks. And then I flashed out, hoping to Chaos the Creator that we didn't forget anything.
