Chapter 21

Lexi P.O.V

I was walking Jade when I noticed something, or should I say someone else across the street.

I look and strain my eyes to see the Dark figure walking what seems to be a dog.

Wait... Is that Rex? Then that must be Mason?

"MASON! Is that you?" He looks my way and seems as if he says a curse word under his breath. He quickly makes a U turn and starts walking in the opposite direction of me. Is he serious? I thought we were "Friends"

"Wait Mason, Wait up!"

I quickly make a U turn and cross the wet street quickly. The sprinklers must have turned on, the air was beginning to dip into the low temperatures, it's probably going to be getting lower during the week considering we're going into Winter.

I jog up next to him and bump shoulders with him, smiling up at him when he looks down.

Jade looks at Rex and licks his ear. Rex gently bit his ear back. Reminds me of siblings somehow.

Mason abruptly stops and looks at me accusingly. Why does he look so upset?

"Listen Lexi. I think it's time if we just stop talking to each other. I can't be seen with you. Your a loser and you'll never be as popular as I am. Don't talk to me, don't even look at me. From this point on I don't even know that you exist."

My heart completely broke. Why is he doing this?

"Mason! Wait! Why are you saying this! Why are you doing this to me?!" Tears sprain from my eyes.

He stops walking and turns his head over his shoulder.

"Why don't you ask Ashton." He continues walking, Rex dragging behind him.

Shit. He knows. but... How?

Ashton's P.O.V

I walk into my house and drop my keys into the key bowl.

"Hey mom, I'm pretty full from eating at a friends house, I think I'm just going to head off to bed." I say to my mom, lying easily. I peek into the kitchen where she was.

"Oh okay dear well good night, see you tomorrow! Have a good nights sleep!" She kissed me on the cheek and continues back with dinner.

I slowly walk up stairs into my room. My muscles hurt from the gym earlier today.

I change out of my shirt into some basketball shorts. I jump into my king sized bed after shutting the lights off.

I cross my hands behind my head as I think about Lexi. She's... different.

Ever since middle school, I broke out of the small bubble that I was in before Lexi left. I admit, that I had a small crush on Lexi but she was with that dipsht Mason to even notice.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate him but I don't think he should believe that he can just get any girl he want.

I've see him with Lexi, I've seen the way he looked at her. It was the same as when they were kids.

*Flash Back*

I glanced out my window. I had just finished reading Lord of the Rings book 2. I pushed my glasses closer to my face and squinted, oh there the love of my life goes again.

Running and playing with that fool, Mason. He looked at her the way my mom looks at my dad. In love. I shook my head and looked away, my blonde hair moving with me.
