The Bell Test Discussion: What Makes a Jonin?

She could distract him long enough to escape, possibly find a teammate, join up with them, and raise their chances of passing this test with dignity. Of course, this was all in theory. The chances of her or any of her plans actually succeeding against the monstrosity of a genius known as Kakashi Hatake was close to nothing. Even with her teammates, it'll just raise her chances up by 50% which really isn't much.

"If I tell you that I know what to do to pass this test, will you let me go?" Shirayuki asked, testing her luck. Kakashi jumped upwards, landing neatly on the tree without a sound, an orange book in his hand.

"Hm, nope," Kakashi commented. "Knowing and actually implementing is very different. Nice try with the shadow, though, you just weren't quick enough."

Shirayuki cursed softly, her shadow going back to what it was original as she retracted her jutsu. It was just a test to see, not that she had much hoped to fare against the genius before her, but really, couldn't he give her a little bit of hope?

"So, what are you going to do, Shirayuki-chan?" Kakashi asked, peering at her over the rim of his book.

Shirayuki frowned, "I give up?"

"That's just disappointing," Kakashi shook his head.

Shirayuki nodded, "Okay. Suiton: Teppodama!"

Small gunshot-like water balls shoot from her mouth, heading towards the general direction of where Kakashi was located. The shots were all dodged, of course, but Shirayuki's main objective wasn't to win the fight or to get the bells right now. As of now, she needed to get away so she could lure her teammates away and form a plan.

"Suiton: Mizurappa!" As the water shot out from her mouth, Shirayuki moved her eyes to an opening by the corner. She leapt and jumped directly into the tree, going at the quickest speed possible. Her mind coordinated with the map she had memorised before: left, left, right, down, up, left-.

She used her only two water jutsu already, the only one she could technically use was a water clone and that was all in theory because no one knew how. The Water Clone and the other one she pretty much read about in a bingo book (Kirigakure no Jutsu) were the ones she was trying to learn. Why weren't there any more C-Ranked techniques that she could learn besides these few?

Having water as her main affinity sucked, Shirayuki decided.

"Not fast enough," Kakashi remarked, blocking her escape route.

Shirayuki narrowed her eyes and lunged. Kakashi blocked with his kunai, leg sweeping to hit her. She jumped back, slipping slightly as she landed. Dropping to the ground, she bolted again, her pace quickening. Kakashi was advancing, his speed overdoing hers by a mile, and the gap between them lessen.

She was sent sprawling onto the ground, her focus was split between pinpointing Kakashi's exact position and getting up as quickly as possible. She got kicked down again, and her head throbbed. Shirayuki blocked the next blow with her arm, wincing at the pain. Her body twisted, kick aimed towards Kakashi's head.

"Shit," a curse from her mouth as she slammed back onto the ground. Doesn't matter, her short-term goal was achieved. She had an explosion tag plastered over Kakashi's back, she just needed to activate it. "Kai!" The tag exploded, and Kakashi turned into smoke. "Fuck!"

It was a clone.

"Suiton: Mizurappa!" Kakashi spat water out. Oh now, Shirayuki thought as she dodged the two times quicker attacks compared to hers, this is just mocking me. She felt almost proud to have dodged them all, her landing perfect. Then, her eyes widened in horror. Kakashi slammed his hand on the ground, "Doton Kekkai: Doro Domu!"
