— The Fallout of the Uchiha MassacreIn a single night, Konohagakure no Sato had its armed force reduced by a quarter. It also marked the complete annihilation of the whole entirety of Konoha's police force. In one night, Konoha experienced a massive change. The Uchiha clan has been massacred with only a single survivor left, all at the hands of Itachi Uchiha.
Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, looked completely exhausted as of right now. The massacre of the clan was not planned, they had already chosen to go for a peaceful route to negotiate and get something in the Uchiha Prodigy had snapped, causing him to go insane and kill everyone who bears the name Uchiha.
The sudden reduction in population caused many problems. Many shops were forced to close down, and hundreds of ninjas were killed. They would also need a memorial specifically made for the fallen members. When word gets out about the massacre, Hiruzen would need to further enhance the security around Konoha. The loss of the Uchiha Clan was far greater than anyone could have expected.
This leads to one more problem, the survivor, Sasuke Uchiha.
Hiruzen stared at the little boy who was still in shock, his cheeks were stained with tears and his hands were clinging onto Shirayuki Nara as if she was his last lifeline. As far as he knew, the girl was there when the little boy first witnessed the aftermath of the massacre. Both refused to speak or rather, Sasuke was unable to speak out of shock and Shirayuki refused to say a word without Sasuke's consent.
It was nearly three in the morning by now, yet the Nara looked so awake that Hiruzen had to make sure she wasn't an illusion. She just stood in front of Sasuke as his shield and deflected anyone who wished to speak with him. Hiruzen sighed, he needed to know more about this, did they catch anything? Any potential survivors? Or was Sasuke truly, the last living Uchiha besides Itachi?
"Shikaku." He called out to the Nara clan Head.
Shikaku gave a subtle nod before heading over to where the two children were sitting. Regardless of everything else, they needed to make sure Sasuke was absolutely healthy, even if they had to drag him kicking and screaming. Hiruzen gave one last look to the Uchiha before sighing.
That is if the Uchiha would speak a word.
...
"Shirayuki."
She snapped her head up at his voice, eyes completely cold and flighty. It was a little odd, Shikaku decided, that his niece showed such defensive emotion over the Uchiha. She always drifted around, she had it the worst out of many Nara, her dissociation towards life was borderline hazardous.
Laziness wasn't sometimes a choice to many of their clan members, nor was the drowsiness always optional. Miketsuni was one of the Nara who didn't have much problem with his head being too overwhelming. Shikaku was almost the exact opposite. Nara have their brains constantly working, it helps them function as human beings or it'll be too overwhelming. So, they sleep to take relief from the overthinking, or the exact opposite; the brain doesn't have anything to think about, it becomes so empty that they need to sleep to keep their brain off the emptiness.
Shirayuki displays many symptoms of her brain being too overwhelming for her to truly cope. Miketsuni had been mildly worried, Miketsuni's wife was even worse off, in fear that her daughter would just randomly drop dead from being too overwhelmed. However, Shikaku knew that Shirayuki likely knew about her own condition and could learn how to cope.
