CHAPTER FOUR

"Good morning, Cecile."

"Mornin', Luna."

The airy Ravenclaw took a seat beside Cecile while they sat waiting for the Transfiguration class to begin. It wasn't often that she got to be around Luna Lovegood. You'd think being in the same house, they two would have spent more time together. But Luna was someone who liked to be alone, not so much that she didn't prefer talking to people, but whenever Cecile saw her, she was wandering the halls alone and completely content with it.

Cecile admired the girl as she couldn't be alone for at least three minutes. Whether she doesn't want to be drowning in her own thoughts or she just couldn't help but to join a crowd of people.

"I was thinking about going into the woods to feed the Thestral I found wandering about the other day." Luna stated with a small smile, "Looked rather lonely, would you like to join me?"

"Well, I suppose I don't have anything else better to do. I'm banned from practice today, I swear Madam Pomfrey has a spy out here just to make sure I don't step onto that pitch." Cecile grumbled.

"Then it's settled. Are you opposed to carrying a bag of raw meat."

"Huh?"

The professor gathered everyone's attention causing a hushed silence to envelope the class.

It was about three thirty when Cecile was finally released to enjoy her free period. It was a rare instance in her schedule considering she had to spend all her time trying to catch up during this extra year she's decided to take. Her mother mostly encouraged the decision, leaving Cecile little room to protest.

Perhaps it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It distracted her, well the best way it could. How was one supposed to move on when continuously wandering around the very place that gave her little sleep? Of course when presented with such common sense, Cecile was turned down immediately and given the excuse that she couldn't be staying around the house because her actress of a mother would be far too busy and couldn't afford to coddle her.

She tried to create an elegant way of saying that without sounding insensitive. In the end it didn't work.

And since Madam Pomfrey has all eyes on her, Cecile took to trudging through the Forbidden Forest, carrying a bag of raw meat that Luna handed to her when they met up.

"Do Thestrals really like this stuff?" Cecile scrunched up her nose at the stinky scent from the bag.

Luna, with an oblivious look, shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. This is my first time feeding them."

Cecile sighed, "Of course."

"Shouldn't be long now." Luna nodded; her eyes focused on the trees around them.

They journeyed a bit deeper into the woods, not too far where they would stumble upon a werewolf pack that was rumored to live around the area or other dark creatures.

It wasn't long until they stumbled upon it. Still, no matter how many times she's seen it, the creature always made her stomach turn.

It was quite the disturbing creature. There was a sinister air about them. Bony figures and dragon-like faces. And their eyes. It was like looking at someone who's long lost the life in them. Dead. That's what it felt like seeing them. A reminder of death.

Suddenly, she remembered why she didn't like Thestrals that much.

Cecile placed the bag of meat down and noticed after a few seconds that they weren't alone.
