CHAPTER FIVE
A few days had passed and Cecile was finally back on the pitch. And this time she didn't sneak in and get dragged out like some sort of madwoman. She actually had Madam Pomfrey's permission, not without the usual warnings and all.
Now she was zooming in the air, putting all her focus on the Quaffle being passed around. In an open opportunity, Cecile stole the Quaffle and made her way to the other side of the pit, throwing it in the highest hoop. It was a clean shot that she pulled off successfully. Cecile shot one of the players a wink before flying down to the ground to get some liquids in her before she continued on.
The practice was one of her favorite parts about playing Quidditch at Hogwarts. The first one was actually playing against one of the houses. But nonetheless, at practice she got an opportunity to take out all her pent up energy, enough for her to sleep through the night and wake up the next morning refreshed. Well, she hoped she would sleep through the night, at least just a few hours.
"Oi! What're you lions doin here, eh?" Duncan, one of her teammates suddenly called, "Come to spy on our practice have you?"
Cecile looked up and rolled her eyes seeing Seamus, Dean Thomas, and Neville sitting in the stands a few rows up.
"Won't need to, lions eat eagles any day and that's a fact!" Seamus shot back.
"Yeah, but then your asses lost to Slytherin so I wouldn't get too happy, Finnigan." Cecile smirked while leaning on her broom.
Neville raised his brow at her, "Didn't Pucey throw you off your broom last time, Cecile?"
"THAT WAS A FUCKING FOUL AND YOU KNOW IT! WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON, LONGBOTTOM?!"
The calmer Gryffindor amongst the two placed his hands on both of his friend's shoulders, "Alright you two, that's enough provoking for today." Seamus grumbled as the three made their way out of the stands, "Besides, I need to study for that one Herbology test and I'm not trying to get a bad grade because of your raging temper, Seamus."
The light haired boy rolled his eyes, "Of course you'd agree with her."
Cecile sent him a scowl as her other teammates went back to practice, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Dean pushed Seamus, "Nothing, don't listen to him." His friend rolled his eyes before leaving, with Neville following behind sending Cecile a half apologetic smile.
It was only Dean and Cecile left on the ground. He gave her a small smile, "It's been a while since we've...uh...talked."
"Yeah, I guess." She shrugged while shifting on her feet.
"How've you been?"
It was such an amusing question, she almost laughed. But instead Cecile rubbed her bad shoulder gently and shrugged once more, "I'm fine."
They stared at each other for a few seconds before Dean started nodding, "Great, that's, uh, great. Um, well, it was nice seeing you. I guess I should go study now."
"Yeah, I should get back to practice." Cecile grabbed her broom and put her leg over it.
"Cecile."
She wondered if her heart would always sink whenever he'd say her name.
"Yeah?"
She hated how he still stared at her. And she hated how it still made her feel.
Dean rubbed the back of his neck, "I hope you're happy. It's what I always wanted for you."
