-Jack's POV-

I tiptoe up the stairs as Millie follows behind me. I needed to talk to her privately so I thought if I take her home I could sneak her away from the others for a minute.

"Good morning. Millie. Jack," Caleb nods towards the both of us as he says our names.

"Good morning, Caleb. We were going to leave early if that's okay," I say hoping he wouldn't question it. With my horrible luck, he did.

"Have somewhere to be?" he asks as he gets a few ingredients from the refrigerator.

"My mom wants to eat out for breakfast as a family and Millie is going to tag along. Right, Millie?" I elbow her hoping she would get the message.

"Uh...yeah!" Millie hesitates for a second but catches on shortly after.

"Hm, okay. Well thanks for stopping over!"

"Yeah anytime. Thanks for inviting us!" I smile and wave goodbye. I open the front door for Millie and we both walk to my car. We both hop in and I reverse out of the driveway. I notice the arrow getting fairly close to empty so I decided to make a quick pit stop.

"I'm going to stop to get gas if that's alright with you," I turn to look at Millie for a response.

"Of course that's fine," she chuckles and looks out the window admiring the scenery. I pull into the gas station and park next to a gas pump. I step out of the car and fill up the tank as much as it can hold. I knock on the passenger side window to get Millie's attention.

"What?" she asks looking up from her phone.

"I'm going to go inside to get a water, do you want something?" I ask.

"I'll just go inside too then," she opens the car door and stands up next to me. We both walk inside and immediately go to the coolers. I open one of the cooler doors and grab a single bottle of water. Millie reaches for a handle to open a different cooler door when I see a shadow slowly approaching me. They put their cold hand on my shoulder and gave it a tight, firm grip and turned me around.

"Let's finish what we started. Y/n's not here to save you this time," he removes his hand off my shoulder and inches closer, getting more furious every step.

"Maybe some other time. I actually have somewhere to be and you know," I take a step back and glance at Millie, "I don't want to be late."

"Don't worry this will only take a second," Connor says as he lifts up his fist.

(A/n: The exes name was formally Max but I changed it to Connor because I thought it was weird to include a character name that was in Stranger Things. Just know that they are the same person.)

I watch as his fist comes closer to my face every second until his it is an inch away. The anticipation was killing me and I was not in the mood to fight especially not in public.

As I feel the slight wind of his fist that was now one centimeter away from my face I confess, "It was fake! It was fake! Please don't hurt me." Connor stops his fist from coming any closer and keeps it right where it is.

"What was fake?" he taps his foot impatiently.

"The r-relationship between y-y/n and I," I stutter.

"So she did that to make me jealous or something?" he raises an eyebrow in confusion.

"Not at all, Millie," I gesture towards Millie, "had liked this guy who y/n also liked. She even went on dates with him and all this other stuff but basically Millie thought if y/n and I got together y/n and him would stop talking to each other," I spill out.

"Well, did it work?" Connor asks unclenching his fist and bringing it back down by his side.

"That part did, they stopped talking but Millie and Noah didn't happen. That's why I'm giving Millie six more days to make it happen with my help. When six days are up I quit and end the thing with y/n," I answer.

"I mean I could help," Connor eyes both of us.

"What do you mean?" Millie asks appearing by my side.

"With your plan. I'm a guy so I could help Millie with this guy because let's face it kid," he elbows me, "you definitely haven't even had a real girlfriend before."

"Ouch, that hurt," I place my hand on my heart, "you're in but remember SIX days."

-Noah's POV-

I take a deep breath before announcing that I have something to do or should I say play.

"Attention!" I say and everyone looks up.

"What is it?" Sadie asks.

"I have something to show you all. Proof," I reply. I spot Caleb out of my peripheral view shaking his head back and forth as a "no don't do it". I ignore him until he starts walking towards me.

"Not the time, Noah," he whispers so only I can hear what he is saying.

"It's now or never," I press play and the voices start talking.

"I just wanted to talk to you, you know, when the others can't hear us,"

"Yeah I get you. Any luck with Noah?"

When the audio started playing I immediately noticed how weird it sounded. It sounded almost distorted in a sense. I really hope this won't affect how the others take this in. I looked at everyone to see how they were taking it and instantly took notice in how y/n wasn't paying any attention.

"Nope. Every single time I try to talk to him, he is either looking or thinking about y/n."

This gets y/n's attention because she looks up at me for a slight second and looks, perhaps, scared. She had no reason to be scared out of all things. I could already tell this was not going to go as planned.

"Oh I get it now. You put a filter on your voice so y/n starts talking to you again," Finn snickers.

"Absolutely no- ," I start but get cut off by y/n.

"What? Noah...is that true?" y/n looks at me with a look on her face that I couldn't read.

"No! Of course not! Why would I even- ," I stop talking as I look around as realize y/n has already took off.

a/n: thank you so much for 9k!! it means the absolute world to me :)
