Turning

The night of the lunar eclipse was crackling with tension. As the sun went down the wolves began to grow antsy within their skin. All members of the two packs were going to participate. They would need every wolf available, just in case the witches attacked. Jacob and his pack would provide protection around the border.

Ana and Jess were nervous to say the least. The thought of being near death had Ana feeling a bit nauseous. She wanted Jax to do the honors, because she knew that he would be gentle with her.

Jess was having issues of her own. Tris had already told her that he would be the one to turn her but, Jess didn't need to be turned. She tried to convince him that she would turn without needing to be near death, but he wouldn't hear it. She would need to devise an escape plan, just in case he didn't come to his senses.

All the wolves were on edge because of the eclipse. They would not listen to reason, the closer the time came. Their baser instincts would take over and she would have to run. At least until the moon Godess turned her. The hair in the back of Jess's neck was on end. She really wanted to run but, the wolves were watching her so closely.

Jess worried about the safety of her twins. She still hadn't found the time to tell Tristan. He, probably wouldn't believe her anyway. According to pack history humans could not conceive with wolves. Hell, wolves couldn't even conceive until the "Mating Call".

Jess had not been allowed out of her room since, her return from the witches lair. She had not even had the chance to speak to Ana. In fact the more her nerves got the best of her the more she missed her best friend.

Even as they walked through the trees in the wooded area, Ana was far from her. She wished that she could just run to her but, the underbrush made for tricky maneuvering through the wooded terrain.

"Ana"

Ana's nerves were getting the best of her. She was literally starting to shake. Jax was close behind her, and his father was walking beside him. Ana felt blocked in, like she had no way out. Thoughts of painful, near death experiences were running rampantly through her head. As she walked and trembled, Jax put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Immediately her nerves began to calm. "It's going to be ok." He said. But for the life of her she couldn't shake the feeling that this would change her life forever.

"Zacharius"

Zacharius led the wolves along, with Adam, deep into the Texas forest. Darkness crept up, surrounding everyone. The wolves had a leg up, because the could see perfectly. Zacharius led the large group into the prearranged clearing.

The girls were situated in the center of the clearing. Standing directly behind them were Tristan and Jax. Standing at the edges of the clearing were, Malcom, Maximus, Jackson Sr., and Adam.

The tension began to rise higher as all the wolves shifted into wolf form. Just as the full moon peeked through the trees, Jax whispered into to Ana's ear. "Calm you heart baby, I'll be gentle....."

Ana tried to relax, but as Jax's head shifted into his wolf she began to panic. Jax didn't give Ana time to bolt. He bit her forcefully, while holding her firmly in place. As her jugular spewed warm life down his throat, a sense of completeness overwhelmed him. Ana began to slip into unconsciousness as the eclipse began. It would take a couple of minutes, but it seemed like time began to stand still.

Jess needed the Moon Goddess to hurry up. As Tristan began to shift, Jess began to pray. 'Please, please Godess, don't let him do this. I can't out run them, but I can't let them hurt my babies.' Just as Tristan was about to bite her, time stood still between Jess and Tris. The Moon Godess was taking over the situation. It was almost surreal that no one else noticed that Tristan was not turning Jess.

Ana was transforming right on schedule. As the wolf venom spread through her body changing her, screams of unimaginable pain echoed through the forest. Her bones began to break, her skin began to stretch. Her gums bled as her teeth elongated. Her heart rate was erratic. The darkness covered the moon. As the shadow moved away from the moons' light fur spread all over Ana's body. Her back hunched over as she stretched into her knew wolf form. A beautiful grey and white wolf was revealed as the full moon broke away from the shadow of the eclipse.

Jess began to change as well. She didn't have the attention of the pack on her. Her bones broke just like Ana's but Jess did not feel the pain that Ana portrayed. Her body went through all the changes flawlessly, as if this was what it was made to do. As the full moon came into view Jess transformed into a beautiful white wolf. She was finally the wolf that she was born to be.

As Jess completed her transformation, Tristan came out of his trance. He looked on, astonished, as Jess became a beautiful white wolf. How had she done that? Humans didn't just turn into wolves without the aide of a little venom. He became transfixed with how gracefully she was turning into her wolf. It was almost as if she had been doing it for centuries.

Just as he looked on with admiration at his beautiful mate, he heard the beating of extra hearts, that were not accounted for. He looked all around trying to find its origin, but all he could see was Jess. The heart beats were faster than anyone else's. they were also distinctly connected to Jess. His eyes grew to the size of saucers as the realization of what was going on dawned on him.

Jess was pregnant, which was impossible in itself. But she was also pregnant with twins. It had only been three weeks and if he was right, then she had definitely conceived with him. Tris felt as if his heart was stopping. How could this have happened? Why hadn't she told him? She had to know right? He knew that he had been preoccupied with losing his wolf, then having it returned as royal wolf with extra strength and abilities. But how could he have missed this? He wondered if the Moon Godess had orchestrated everything.

As Tristan pondered how this could have happened, Jess felt the need to run. The feeling was near overwhelming. Tristan could sense her need to run as her wolf. He understood how the inner wolf could take over, making the urge to give in near impossible to defeat. His wolf was urging him to show dominance over his mate. He wanted to, so badly, but he feared her reaction. He couldn't stand the thought of frightening her, and somehow inadvertently harming the pups. With his mind wandering, he missed her bolting from the meadow into the surrounding woods.

"Jess"

Jess ran with abandon, being a wolf was exhilarating. She could feel the movement of the trees, hear the rustle of the grass. She could feel the wind blowing through her fur. The speed was the kicker! She could run at the speed of sound, the power she felt surging through her body was so forceful. As she sprinted through the rough Ana was going through something of a difficult change.

Tristan finally built up the nerve to follow Jess. He had to go by scent because she had run with utter abandon. As he closed the distance in on her wisps of light zoomed past him. His wolf tensed as the lights struck the trees surrounding him. The witches were attacking, and the pack was prepared

"Ana"

Ana felt a bit skittish, everything surrounding her was so clear and crisp. It was as if all her senses were heightened times one hundred. Jax tried to soothe her, but her mind was fighting its wolf.

She began to turn back into her human, but the wolf fought for control, leaving her stuck in the middle. Jax was beginning to panic. He knew that if she didn't allow her wolf to lead then she would die, stuck between the two. He transformed into his human form. Easing close ever so slowly he began to whisper to her. "Ana please, allow your wolf to take over. If you don't.... If you continue to fight this it will kill you. You have to let your wolf run free." Ana wanted to listen she really did, but the wolf was trying to force her into the shift. Ana began to shake. She had the face of a wolf and the bottom half of a woman. She would gain fur just for it to be immediately replaced with skin. Her bones would break and reform. Her mind was everywhere and nowhere all at the same time.

Jax was at a loss if the sun rose and she had not fully shifted and ran as her newborn wolf, she would die at daybreak. Jax sent up a howl of distress. All of the other wolves were running in celebration of the turning. He needed them to come back and help Ana.
