Naturally, she told Sarah of the incident almost immediately.

"Yeah, no.  My brother didn't leave you that."

And that wasn't exactly the reaction Brianna had been expecting.  Because sure, it was surprising, but she was almost certain Rafe had left her the money.  She tried to tell Sarah this, but her friend only shook her head.

"Listen, I totally believe he acted like a little bitch to you.  But apologizing for it?"

Sarah paused, laughing to herself.

"No way in hell.  He didn't even apologize when he sold Wheezie's iPad to buy new shoes."

And before Brianna could get out a word, Sarah was already delving into her anti-Rafe rant for the second time that week.  Honestly, it held some merit.  Rafe really was a douche, Brianna had experienced it for herself the other day.  But, for some reason, he still intrigued her.  She couldn't help but feel that there was something more to him, something he hid behind the all that anger.

But she didn't have time to analyze the thought further, because suddenly the topic changed and Sarah was talking about her family yacht trip.

"-and Wheezie can't come because she's behind on her summer classes, so I'm gonna be trapped listening to my dad's fishing stories."

Then Sarah's expression shifted into something hopeful, almost pleading.  Brianna knew what she was going to ask before the words even left her mouth.

"Will you come with–"

"Yes."

Brianna blurted the answer with a little more enthusiasm than necessary.

Because holy shit, a yacht?  There was no way in hell she would pass that opportunity up.  Sarah, however, seemed shocked.

"You're sure?" she paused, looking around.  "Because my brother can be.. well you know, a dick to my friends sometimes.  Especially if.."

"If they're pogues?" Brianna supplied.

Sarah nodded, eyes averted as if she somehow felt guilty for her brother's actions.

Brianna sighed, remembering her last interaction with Rafe.

"Hey, it's fine.  We'll just avoid him, right?"

Somewhere deep in her mind, she knew she wasn't exactly opposed to seeing him again.  A little nervous maybe, but Brianna couldn't help but feel as though the dynamic between them had shifted since she told him off.  She didn't dwell on it too much.

The following day as Brianna set foot on the Camerons' yacht for the first time, she began to question her decision making skills.  Not only had the entire family immediately turned to stare at her, but they also wore a look of surprise so strong it made Brianna freeze in her tracks. 

Either Sarah had completely neglected to inform the others that Brianna was tagging along, or worse.  Maybe they hadn't expected someone of her status to even entertain the idea of hanging around their kind.
