~The Ball~

Anne was so exited about the ball, and lucky for her she had the perfect dress.

It was a dark blue dress, with a beautiful silver lace, and she had worn her hair up in a lovely bun, Cole had helped on that part.

As Anne was waiting for Gilbert to arrive, she talked with Diana, which she also had a beautiful dress on as well.

Gilbert knocked on the door, as he waited for Anne to come down, he checked his hair on the door glass one last time before the door opened.

Anne opened the door, and there she was, Gilbert smiled so bright at the sight of her, "You look lovely"

Anne smiled too, "You look lovely as well"

They shared a little laugh, "may I?", said Gilbert as he raised his arm so that Anne would take it, "Yes you may", she responded, and she took her arm in his.

As Anne and Gilbert entered the ball, they both gasped in unison.

It was beautiful, a room full of all kinds of blue, a lovely big banner, some balloons, the tables decorated with an ice sculpture, each a different one, and finally a table filed with food, that looked rather delicious.

"Oh this is beautiful Gilbert!", exclaimed Anne in awe.

"It is only half as beautiful as you", responded Gilbert with a grin on his face.

Anne looked at Gilbert and laughed a little, then Anne added, "I wonder who did this?"

"That would be my mother...", said a familiar voice.

As Anne and Gilbert turned to see who said that they both gasped...

"Winifed...", it was all that Gilbert could say.

Anne in the other hand couldn't say anything but smile a little in order to be polite.

"Gilbert, Anne, it's nice to see you again", said Winifred.

"N-nice to see you to Winnie", said Gilbert a little worried, hoping that Anne wasn't upset.

There was a quick silence before Winifred said, "Well I best get going"

"Your mother did a wonderful job!", jumped Anne in.

"Thank you", she nodded, and with Winifred left.

"Well that was...a surprise...", said Gilbert trying to get Anne to speak.

"Yes, I-it definitely was"

"Let's go dance, shall we?", asked Gilbert cheerfully.

Anne nodded as they headed to the dance floor.

While they were dancing Anne couldn't concentrate, she was still shocked about Winifred, and she didn't know why, "I am going to clear my head outside"

"I'll come with you", Gilbert said.

"Don't worry, I just have to clear my head...", said Anne, "I'll come back when I am ready"

"Ok, be careful", was all that Gilbert had time to say.

Anne headed outside, to the garden, and she sat at a wooden bench.

As she gathered her thoughts, she heard footsteps coming her way, "Gilbert, I told you I am fine-"

"Sorry not Gilbert...", said Winifred with a shrug, "Mind if I join you?"

This took Anne by surprise, "Yes, of course"

After a while Winifred spoke, "Look Anne, I know it must be weird seeing me here, but I want you to know that there is nothing to worry about, I am over Gilbert now."

Anne sighed, "Thanks, but that is not exactly what I am worried about..., Anne took a deep breath, "it's that I-I don't know why Gilbert choose me, over you, I mean... why?, what if he regrets it, even thought he told me he didn't?

"Oh Anne, don't worry about that...you know, I always knew Gilbert had feelings for you...", said Winifred, definitely over what had happened almost a year ago.

"Wait, what?, you did?", this had caught Anne's attention.

Winnie sighed, "I mean, at first when we were together I didn't know he felt something for you, but as we went on, I noticed he sometimes was distracted, and when he invited me and my family to the fair, I knew something was going on, but I figured you didn't feel the same, or something like that had happened, I guess I was wrong..."

This was a lot to process for Anne, "Oh wow, Winnie I am ever so sorry to hear that"

Winifred smiled, "it's ok, if it weren't for you I would have married the wrong man", Winnie got closer and graved Anne's hand, "Anne trust Gilbert, he really does love you"

"Thank you", this filed Anne with joy.

"Now lets get in there, and enjoy ourselves", Winifred gestured to to the ball room.

"Ok...i am glad we had this talk", said Anne now smiling.

"Me too", said Winnie as they both headed in.

Anne looked around to find Gilbert, she found him at a table.

"Gilbert!"

"Anne!, are you ok?", said Gilbert worriedly.

"Yes, I am ok, and Gilbert, I am so sorry I ever doubted you, I love you.

Gilbert smiled, "I love you too"

"Let's go dance", said Anne ready to enjoy the night.

As Gilbert and Anne danced, Gilbert curiously asked, "So were did you go?"

Anne did a little laugh, "Let's just say that Winifred is now my friend"

"You don't say", said Gilbert with a huge smile on his face.

And with that they laughed and had fun all night long.
