Thirteen-year-old Romell walked down the street with his little brother and sister following close behind. Langston was trying his hardest to keep up with him, while carrying eight-year-old Lauren on his back.
"Slow down Romell, damn." He called out to his brother.
He turned around, eyeing him. "Put her big ass down and maybe you'll be able to walk faster."
Romell didn't understand why he was carrying Lauren in the first place, her legs worked just fine. Langston was always babying her, if it wasn't her it was Rebel.
"Fuck you, RoRo." Lauren snapped.
"Stop cursing." Langston told her.
"You know she can't walk in snow, she'll start slipping and sliding on the ice."
He scoffed continuing his adventure. Not caring if they were behind him or not. It was Langston's idea to bring her anyway, so she was his responsibility. Wherever her big brothers went Lauren wanted to go, to her it was better than sitting at home playing with baby Rebel.
"Didn't want her to come in the first place." He mumbled, stopping and waiting for them. He knew if he didn't wait, Lauren would snitch and that would be his ass.
"We need to catch up, so you're going to have to walk." He said stopping putting her down.
Her eyes started to water. "JoJo, I can't."
Langston sighed. "Look if you walk on your own, I'll buy you any candy you want. Okay?"
"Fine."
Finally, they caught up with Romell. With Lauren holding onto his hand for dear life. The trio stopped at their local store, getting snacks for them, Lianna, and Angel.
"Did you get Lianna's Sour Patch Kids?"
Langston nodded his head, struggling to hold everything in his hands. He stood behind Lauren waiting for her to pick out her candy. "Hurry up Ren."
"I can't decide." She said looking at the variety of candies.
"Lauren please hurry up, we're already late."
She glared at her oldest brother. "Stop freaking rushing me."
Finally deciding on a candy, they paid for their items. It was a good thing that Lianna's house wasn't that far. Ringing the doorbell they waited for someone to answer.
"Well, if it isn't the Jones Trio." Ms. Faye said opening the door.
"Hi Ms. Faye." They replied in unison.
"Come on in, get out of the cold."
They stepped inside, hanging up their coats and taking off their shoes. Sitting in the living room waiting for their friends.
