"May the odds be ever in your favor"

I stared at the sun coming over the crest of the waves while waiting for him to arrive. The beach was practically empty as the fisherman were off work for this dreadful day. I closed my eyes and breathed in the salty air knowing it could be the last time I saw this beach. I then silently hoped my birthday wouldn't be in the Hunger Games or that I would even make it to sixteen. I then pushed those dreadful thoughts out and relaxed. I stayed like this for a few minutes until I heard the crunch of sand behind me.

"Adrian I know that's you" I said without turning around. I heard the person behind me speak.

"Seriously Olympia I was being quiet" Adrian said as he sat on the sand beside me.

"You're never quiet" I said jokingly in response he punched me in the arm. I laughed and leaned my head on his shoulder. He put his arm around me and kissed my forehead. I looked up at his pretty blue eyes gleaming and his wavy blonde hair that caught the sunlight every time he moved. I relaxed looking at him and snuggled into his shoulder .We stayed like that in silence for a few more minutes watching the sunrise. Then I spoke."I'm nervous Adrian what if I get chosen for the games" I looked up at him with pleading eyes.

He responded in a calming tone "Don't worry O your name is in the ball 4 times and mines in 5 the chances of us getting chosen are slim and besides if you are picked someone will probably volunteer for you anyway" but I could tell he was fearful.

"Can I ask you something"

"Yeah what is it" he said worriedly.

"If I get reaped don't volunteer"

"O you can't say that if you get chosen I'm volunteering"

"Just hear me out only one of us can make it out alive" Adrian didn't respond and just looked back at the horizon. Worrying that had dampened the mood I quickly said "why don't we go for a walk." He nodded and we strolled along the beach hand in hand we walked for who knows how long before I looked at the sun it was almost noon and we had to be in the square by two.

"Hey Adrian we should head back it's 12"

"Yeah but just remember it will be ok" he replied. Before leaving I planted a kiss on his lips even though he said everything would be fine I couldn't shake the dreadful feeling in my stomach.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked at the girl staring back at me in the mirror. Long blonde hair cascading down her back, sun kissed skin with big blue eyes, then the skinny yet curvy body covered in a pale yellow sundress. I sighed and looked away " I may as well look good before they send me off to slaughter" I thought as I adjusted my dress. I looked at the dresser beside me and picked up the necklace Adrian had given me for my fifteenth birthday I put it in knowing if I was sent into the games I would want this as my token. I looked in the mirror again and once I was satisfied with my appearance I made my way to the living room* where I saw my mom staring blankly out the window. I didn't say anything and just gave her a hug I felt her tense up and squeeze me tighter. I looked at the clock on the wall 1:50. I broke the silence "we should get going mom" she nodded and let me go.
Once in the square I made my way to the fifteen year old square. I looked around at my companions at their worried faces and shaky figures. I closed my eyes and gripped my necklace trying to drown out my surroundings. I opened my eyes and saw the mayor, district fours escort Pixel and our mentors Finnick Odair, and Annie Cresta. I zoned out as the treaty of treason played and Pixel  went on about Her May the odds be ever in your favor crap. I was snapped back to reality when I heard my name. "No this can't be"  I thought. I looked around at people staring at me swallowing my fear I made my way to the stage. Then I heard the screams male and female. I closed my eyes and stood there as I heard her calling the boys name Ceaser Williams. I vaguely heard Pixel tell us to shake hands and where to go. I followed everyone in a trance to the justice building where I was seated in a room alone. I stared at the wall until I saw my mom rush in. I ran to her and hugged her tight  I pulled away and spoke "Mom stay strong I will make it out alive" she looked at me with tearful eyes. "Forget about dad and forget about Luke" I felt the tears welling up "I can't loose you mom stay strong" I hugged her tight then I saw the peacekeeper leading her away, next entered Adrian He kissed me passionately not wanting it to end. Finally I pulled away and noticed he was crying I cupped his face in my hands "I will win this I promise take care of her please I will win this for her but more importantly for us" I kissed him again until I was ushered out by peacekeepers and taken to the train station. Before getting in the cameras view I wiped the tears away and put on a brave face. I noticed Ceaser had a emotionless expression. As soon as we boarded the train I went straight to my compartment and cried.
* i know in district 12 it describes Katniss's house as very small but she lives in the poor part of the poorest district and Olympia lives in district 4 and career district and a wealthier district.
