"C'mon, Will, just 'cause my dad's the god of riches doesn't mean I'm rich," Nico said, looking expectantly at Will. Will sighed, but handed him a drachma anyway."What's that?" Tony asked, staring at the girl scout cookie-sized coin in Nico's hand.
"Drachma, Greek demigod currency," he answers off-handedly as he checks all his pockets, exclaiming triumphantly when he finally finds what he's looking for.
"Yes! Alright," he says, turning to Will and handing him the rainbow prism he always carried with him for situations just like this. Nico looked around, before asking: "Anyone got a spray bottle?"
Four minutes later, Pepper bustled back into the room, standard spray bottle in hand. Nico thanked her, took it, and handed it to Will, who just sighed.
"O Iris, goddess of the rainbow, show me Annabeth Chase(Okay but like I haven't reread the books in a while and I don't feel like getting up so sorry if this is wrong)," Nico said, and tossed the drachma into the little rainbow mist cloud he and Will had created together using the power of teamwork and persistence.
After a few moments, an image emerged from the mist, showing Annabeth sitting criss-cross applesauce on her cluttered bed, typing away on her laptop, seemingly dead to the world.
"Annabeth," Nico said, and when she didn't look up, he sighed. "Annabeth!"
She gasped, startling so hard her laptop almost fell out of her lap and onto the floor. She jerked her arm out and caught it just in time. Her eyes shot up, already glaring.
"What?" She demanded, before she took in the scene in front of her and seemed to comprehend that it was Nico, whom she had not seen since he joined the Avengers. "Nico?"
"Yes, yes, 'how's it been, are you eating, are they nice-?' I know," he said, waving his hand impatiently. "But we have a situation here."
Annabeth sat up straighter, suddenly much more attentive than she had been five seconds ago. "What kind of situation? Please don't tell me someone is trying to take over the world again," she said quickly, before he could speak, and he grimaced.
"Well... maybe not that serious," he said, and Annabeth sighed in both exasperation and relief. "But it's still not exactly a walk in the park," he said seriously, and she rubbed her temples.
"What...? Okay. Just, tell me what's going on over there," she said, and Nico had to fight off a smirk. He cleared his throat.
"Well, you know that whole thing that went down a couple centuries ago when Ares tried to dethrone my father?" He asked, and she nodded. "Well, his sister, Eris, sided with him and tried to help him, for whatever reason," Nico said, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, long story short, it didn't work, Ares and Eris got caught, imprisoned, blah, blah, blah. But recently," Nico continued, sobering. "She somehow got out, and got herself a little rag-tag team of monsters and tried to attack New York."
Annabeth was silent, staring at Nico, before she slowly put her face in her hands, muttering something something about 'can't catch a break,' before looking back up at Nico.
"Okay," she said slowly. "And what happened with her attack on New York?" She asked.
"It didn't really go anywhere," Nico answered. "We stopped it pretty quickly, but," he paused, and grimaced slightly. "I'm worried she might come back with more enforcements. I stabbed her last time, but I don't really know how much it weakened her, if any at all."
