Webby and Della had a hard time figuring out where Scrooge could have been keeping the Louie's but once they concluded that it had to be the old money bin back when he was in power they immidently took off in that direction.
"This is just typical of Louie." Webby growled as they made their way through the forest without any problem. "I told him to be careful." She snarled. "And what did he do? Got himself shot at, captured, and who knows what his brother is doing to him..."
"Don't forget Lena." Della remarked. Webby stopped short and looked at her sharply. "What? Too soon?" She asked.
"Let's just keep going." Webby snapped.
She whirled around and stomped up ahead.
She didn't want to talk about Lena. It ended so badly between them that she still could believe that it had actually happened.
Memory of what happened that day flashed through her mind as they made their way to their destination. Della walked along in silence.
"So, it's true." Lena had shouted as she walked into the tavern.
Just as Louie leaned in to kiss Webby. Webby had no idea what was coming at the time. She didn't even have time to react when Lena started using her magic randomly and things started flying around them.
"Lena! Stop! Let's talk about this!" Webby tried.
That only made Lena angrier and used her magic to toss a table at them. Louie shielded her from it as it landed overhead with a loud thud.
"Lena, it, it's not her fault. It, It's mine!" Louie shouted.
Lena's eyes locked with his and used her magic to lift him in the air and come towards her so close that Louie could see the change development in her once kind eyes. His heart had pounded so hard against his chest that he thought the whole tavern (that was now graveling with customers after Lena's tantrum) could hear it.
"I bid thee a cursed life, the moment I die." She hissed at him. "You'll moarn for me one way or another." She added
Louie felt the surge of magical engery jolt inside him. He yelped as Lena dropped him like a sack of dirt on the floor.
Lena looked over at Webby who stood frozed behind him.
"I'm going to get you for this, princess." She snarled. Webby blinked then narrowed her eyes at the word 'princess,' she hated that word. "Don't think I don't know your little secret."
Webby felt all the blood drain from her face as she watched her former best friend stomp out of the tavern, leaving behind the cursed ripples that black magic over Louie.
All that happened a year ago, then shortly after, Dewey died...
"It's quiet." Della told her, Webby blinked back to reality and looked over at her. Della pointed towards the rundown, empty money bin. She was right. It was too quiet.
Like a calm before the storm. Webby thought. She shuddered as she and Della crept forward towards the building. Webby took out a grabbling hook from her backpack, and Della did the same. They shot the hooks up towards the roof, and after hearing it clang before they started to climb the scale wall.
It didn't take them long before they reached the roof. Webby got there first and helped Della as she came up behind her.
Webby's muscle's suddenly tensed up just as a magical fire ball zoomed just passed her ear, pratically melting her skull earring before it hit a tree a few yards away. Webby watched it crumble to ashes before she slowly turned around.
"Lena." She snarled.
"Webby." Lena said back, casually, "Nice of you to drop by."
"W,where's Louie?" Webby asked, getting right to the point.
"Always worried about him, aren't you?" Lena started, she tossed another magical fire ball, making Webby push Della and flinging herself out of the way just as the magical fire ball exploded above them. "Never was worried about how her friend would have felt after that kiss, right?" She continued with a snarled.
"I,It happened so fast, Lena." Webby tried. "I, I didn't -."
"Don't feed me that." Lena shouted. She made another fire ball, bigger then the last one, appear, it was as big as a full moon, and Webby swallowed hard as she stared at it. "You've had feelings for him from the beginning. Admit it!" She screeched.
"Okay, fine. Maybe I did. Alright!" Webby shouted.
Lena stared at her as her upper lip curled into a snarl and her left eye twitched in irritation.
"I, It was my fault. I, I should have told you how I was feeling before things got out of hand..." Webby added.
Lena inhaled deeply before tossing the huge magical fire ball. Webby couldn't be able to dodge this one. She shielded her eyes waiting for the blow. When none came she opened her eyes, Magica stood between them, using her staff to hold back the magical fire ball.
"M,Magica?" She stammered.
"Got some man, you have there, kid." Magica grunted, she glanced quickly over at her as the magical fire ball weighed down on her more forcefully.
Webby blinked.
"When you find him, tell him he owes me one." Magica added. "Now, go." She ordered. Her yellow eyes shining brightly at her. Webby stared back at her as Della tugged at her and started dragging her out of the line of fire.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!" Glomgold shouted. He pulled the 'other,' Louie's head down just as the blast eurpted.
Rubble flew around them and on top of them as the smoke cleared. The original Louie slowly got off his double's shoulders and stumbled towards the now blown out crater in the wall. He looked around wildly at what looked like Frankenstine's lab. Then he spotted his brother on a slab, tied up, and frantically yelling at no one in particular.
He ignored the pain and rushed over to him.
"I'm telling you people! I WANT OUT OF -." He stopped when he saw Louie slowly coming towards him. "L,Louie is that you?"
Louie came up to him and stared at him.
"A,Are you my Louie?" Dewey choked out.
"Y,yeah. Dewey. I am." Louie said.
"Finally!" Dewey said, tears in his eyes, "You know what I've been through the last twenty-four hours?" He shouted at him.
Louie blinked.
"I've been captured, found out my double is dead, been used as a pawn just so Huey and Louie's double can make up, then captured again by our Uncle Scrooge of this universe, all to revive him." He told Louie nodding his head towards the test tube.
Glomgold and the 'other,' Louie followed his gaze.
"Dewey." The 'other,' Louie whispered. He slowly walked up to his brother who was floating aimlessly in the green muck. He couldn't take his eyes off him, and slowly lifted a hand and laid it on top of the cold glass.
"Can we go home, now?" Dewey asked.
"Y,yeah. I'm all for home right now." Louie agreed. He tried undoing the knots that tied his brother's had tied down, but no use he looked over at his double. "Oi!" He called out. The 'other,' Louie blinked and looked over at them. "Wouldn't happen to have a swiss on you by any chance?" He asked hopefully.
His double nodded and slowly opened one of the pouches on his vest and brought out a pocket knife. He walked over to the original Louie and was about to hand it to him when it was shot out of his hand. It fell to the floor with a clanking sound. Glomgold, both Louie's, and Dewey all looked towards the door.
"I wouldn't if I were you." The 'other,' Huey snarled.
"H,Huey?" The 'other,' Louie stammered. "W,where did you come from?" He asked.
In answer Huey pulled on a chain that he had been holding in his other hand and three figures were roughly pushed in.
"Guys?" Dewey said, his eyes wide as he stared at Huey, Webby, and Gosalyn.
"Sorry, Lou. Seems these three thought they could save him on their own." The 'other,' Huey snickered. Nodding at the 'original,' Dewey.
"And now that the three Original's are together in one place."
Everyone turned to look at Scrooge McDuck who came up behind the 'other,' Huey. He laided a gentle hand on his shoulder and grinned broadly.
"Good job on capturing your double, lad." Scrooge told him. He walked passed him and his eyes shown brightly when he stared at the 'original,' Louie. "And you just walked in on your own free will. I'd say you were the easiest catch of the day."
Louie narrowed his eyes at him.
"Now, we can really get down to business." Scrooge declared. He nodded to the 'other,' Huey who unhooked his double from the girl's and pushed him roughly towards his brothers. "And I suggest, if you don't want anything to happen to the girl's," Scrooge told the boy's, "then you'll do excatly as I say."
Huey janked on the girl's chains and started to leave.
"H, Huey, Wait!" The 'other,' Louie said, frantically. The 'other,' Huey paused and looked back at Louie who looked over at Dewey. "You have to tell him." He pleaded. Dewey blinked confused. 'Tell him what our Dewey would tell him." He explained more frantically.
Dewey looked from him, to his double's lifeless body, then to Huey who stood staring at his brother's double not with hate, but with guilt and sadness. Dewey swallowed hard.
"I, I know I'm not your Dewey, Huey." Dewey began, in a loud clear voice.
Scrooge McDuck snorted as he turned and picked up what looked like a large oversized needle. The original Huey went to stand next to his brothers, protectivly standing in front of them, narrowing his eyes at Scrooge and avoiding the needle's glare.
"But, if it helps, I, I forgive you. For what you did to me. To us. Please, you, you have to stop running, and face what you did." Dewey told him.
The 'other,' Louie held his breath as he saw something change in his eyes.
"I don't have to do anything." Huey said, darkly, with that he marched out of the room dragging the girl's behind him.
"Well, that was unsettleing, eh?" Scrooge said, after a long moment of silence.
The 'other,' Louie's heart sank as he watched his one and only brother disappear from the room with the girl's.
"You can stay if you like, nephew." Scrooge continued. "I have no use for you, but your double, stays." He said, grabbing him by the scruff of his hoodie.
The 'other,' Louie whirled around and glared at his uncle as his double moaned in pain. Loud banging and shouting could be heard from the roof. Scrooge glanced up as the rumbling started, then looked back at Louie and grinned.
"Seem's Magica and Lena are having fun. Why don't we have a little bit of our own? Hmm?" Scrooge said, as he inched the needle closer to his double's skin.
