"If anyone has any objections to the wedding, please say it now." Plutarch Heavensbee says. I look around and no one is objecting, just a bunch of smiles. I don't know what I'm feeling, but I feel like something is going to attack us. The worries start to appear on my face until Peeta strokes my brown hair. I smile graciously and show him my MockingJay pin. Then, he shows me his medallion/locket with a picture of us inside. I just want to get this wedding over with and kiss him already.
"Mr. Mellark," Plutarch says. "Can you please say your vows?" Peeta looks at him. "Okay." He replies and let's go of my hands to get out a piece of paper that looks like a peace treaty. It's way too big to be a vow. "Ugh, this is going to take forever!" I hear Johanna say in the background. I couldn't help but chuckle, until Peeta began to speak.
"Katniss Everdeen, I will never forget when I first saw you. You had the two prettiest braids, you wore a floral dress that went down to your knees, wearing white leggings under it. You looked like a little princess. I never knew that princess would soon become my queen." He starts to tear up. "I remember when you volunteered for your sister. I couldn't help but just to think that the love of my life was going to die." Then I start crying while looking up at the sky, trying to find my little duck, Prim. He continues on. "I got reaped. I was scared from the looks on my face but on the inside, I would do whatever it took to protect you." He then holds one of my hands with the paper in his other hand. "Then, you kissed me in that arena. I felt sparks fly inside of me. I knew everyone thought of it as an act of defiance, but I found it as love. I couldn't let go of you. I wanted our love to be eternal from that day on. I wasn't pleased by acting out our on stage romance for the cameras and for everyone in Panem. I was sick and tired of being in their games. They didn't own me, but they were starting to. Until, the Capitol took me. I saw our love as an act of defiance then, but I don't want to get into detail about that horrific moment. You saved me, our relationship, all of Panem and so much more. I don't think I can ever thank you enough except for you to be here with me forever." I start to cry with mascara falling down my cheek. I knew Effie was going to be upset, but Peeta looked up at me and wiped that tear away. He was almost done with his vow. " You've painted a new chapter in my life, and I've started to read that chapter. I still see that pearl. That pearl that I gave you in the arena of the seventy-fifth hunger games, is on your bracelet now. I hope you know that's my symbol saying I'll always be with you." He then starts to cry a lot more until his last sentence hits my heart so hard. "Love is just a shout into the world. It can be broken, undesirable, in-despicable, hurtful but ours Katniss, is un-breakable. I love you so much. You are mine forever and I cannot wait to live that forever with you." He stops his mouth and drops the paper. He takes my other pin and whispers, "The MockingJay lives." I start to cry and crouch down to the floor. Peeta and Plutarch help me back up with support until Plutarch tells me it's my turn to say my vows. It's kind of embarrassing because I only took out four notecards from the pocket of my dress.
"Well this is not as good as comparisons to you but I'll try my best." The audience starts to crack up, along with Peeta and Plutarch. The cameras start to point out my face. I start to speak. "Peeta Mellark, the boy with the bread, you've made me see a true meaning through love. You have found a part of me I never thought I had. You helped me guide through these tough two years, and I can't thank you enough except standing here in this position, just waiting to become yours. I could see you fighting back to me when you were hijacked. I couldn't stop loving you and you couldn't stop loving me. You fought hard Peeta, you really did. You won that battle against the Capitol. You saved me as well. You with those stunningly blue eyes, and your golden locks of blonde hair remind me a lot of a boy version of Cinderella." Everyone starts to laugh in unison for a few seconds until I continue on with tears flowing. "Tonight is the night. I've been waiting four months for this moment and I can't wait to get it on. So Peeta, my question to you is, Will you stay with me?" I drop the cards. "Always." He replies. I look to the audience and see tears flowing in people's eyes. Plutarch stands there motionless until I wave at him. "Oh right," he says. "Peeta, repeat after me." He went through this long message about how Peeta would protect me and all, and I had to do the same thing. We've already told this stuff to each other and there was no need to do it again. "Peeta," Plutarch says. "Will you please place the ring on Katniss' finger?" "Of course I will." He replies. That's when we turn and see Finn, the ring bearer, with our rings. We decided to put the rings on before the important question. We like to keep things out of order. It's weird, but we like it. He hands Peeta and I's handcrafted rings. He placed the ring on my left finger, which was engraved with a question on it. It said, "You love me. Real or Not Real?" And on the inside of the ring, it had the word, "Real" in it, with a few diamonds around the sides. With Peeta's ring, it had the same thing but no diamonds.
"Finally." Plutarch says with an impatient look on his face. We all turn and stare at him with looks of disapproval. "Oh sorry," he says. "I didn't mean to say that." We turn back to face each other. Then Plutarch starts talking. "Peeta Mellark, will you take Katniss Everdeen, the MockingJay, to be your lawfully wedded wife?" Peeta stares at me with his beautiful, blue orbs and with a big smile on his face. "I do." He says. I start to cry and blush. Plutarch then turns to me. "Katniss Everdeen, will you take Mr. Peeta Mellark, the boy with the bread, as your lawfully wedded husband?" I smile with the words, "I do," coming out of my mouth. "Congratulations," Plutarch says. "I know pronounce you husband and wife. Peeta Mellark, you may kiss your bride." "Don't mind if I do," Peeta says and grabs my waist, dipping me to the floor but with his arms to keep me standing. He slowly leans in with his lips smushed together, ready for a kiss against my lips. We were almost there, becoming husband and wife, until an un-tied, President Snow barges in the wedding chapel, with peacekeepers heading towards my direction. "STOP THIS WEDDING RIGHT NOW!" He yells. Peeta and I are startled, along with everyone else around Panem. Two peacekeepers start to grab me and take me to President Snow, until Peeta starts to fight back. He barges through the peacekeepers and fights them off, kissing me with those lips, until two peacekeepers tackle him. I start to grab his muscular hand, and I couldn't let go of him until the peacekeepers separated us. That was the last I ever touched the boy with the bread.
"NO! NO!" I scream until the peacekeepers put a white cloth in my mouth. "Katniss! Katniss! I love you!" Peeta says with peacekeepers keeping us from coming close to each other. "I'm coming for you! Don't leave me! Stay with me?!" With the left air I have in my mouth, I try to say "Always," but it doesn't come out right. I am soon dragged away, but I married Peeta. He kissed me before the Capitol took me. I looked back at Peeta and President Snow. President Snow looks at me and turns around in front all of Panem, "The MockingJay is dead." He says. He then grabs Peeta and whispers, "It's the thing we love most, that destroy us." President Snow then nods his head and Peeta is dragged behind Snow until I see where he was going. The Square, the place where Gale got whipped to death, is where Peeta was heading. We catch each other's eyes one last time with tears shedding down our face. He mouths the words, "I'm coming for you. I'll be okay." I am then forced up into a hovercraft, with peacekeepers strangling my arms together. I'm going back into the Capitol, and I can't do anything about it. Who knows? I might become Hijacked, just like the boy with the bread, Peeta Mellark. I can't find Peeta. He's somewhere else, fighting his way back to me.
