a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.
Despite everything, E-Class had seemingly returned to normal.
As much as they wished to live their happily ever after, there was still a yellow octopus waiting to be assassinated.
A fight broke out between Kataoka and Nakamura, about whether they should save or kill Korosensei. The final fight was a face-off between Kayano and Nakamura, in which Kayano triumphed. Karma, Nagisa, and Ritsu stayed neutral during the fight, as Karma and Nagisa would have an unfair advantage with their vampiric powers. They watched in silence, not sharing their own views, clutching each other's hands as the fight carried on.
They sent Karma and Nagisa into space to retrieve the research info they needed to save Korosensei. Though Karma had been against it, the class argued that they were the best fit for it, arguing that "They were wanted fugitives anyways."
Korosensei was still imminent on career counseling, even though Nagisa had mostly given up on his future. Through lots of soul-searching, Nagisa had decided that, if at all possible, he wanted to become a teacher, just like Korosensei. He didn't know how he would do it, but it was something he wanted to try and make happen.
Valentine's Day came, Nagisa gave his boyfriend a small box of chocolates he was able to buy from the candy shop in the village. Karma had figured that they would wait till White Day, but Nagisa argued that White Day was the day after Korosensei's due date, so he wanted to be sure.
Sakaki and Reijirou scolded Karma for being so inconsiderate on Valentine's Day, which made Karma spin on his heel and pull Nagisa outside with him in response. Karma took him up one of the mountains surrounding the town, where there was a small abandoned shrine, overrun by plants and weeds.
Karma used a pocket knife to carve their initials into the bark of the tree, a crooked heart surrounding the letters. They sat on the ground in front of the offering bin, talking about different things. Karma had given Nagisa his cardigan to wear, it was still a cold February. They sat and ate the chocolates while birds chirped above them.
The assassination didn't go as planned, and Karma and Nagisa watched in horror as the news revealed the existence of the yellow octopus. He was confined on the 3-E grounds, and the students would have to fight their way up there to see him, one last time. They took a late-night train, feeling anxious to go back to Tokyo on their own, covering their faces as much as possible and clasping their hands together. In the near-empty train, time felt as though it dragged on forever, the dim lighting made it all feel like a lucid dream.
When they arrived in Tokyo, they met up with the rest of the group and headed for the mountain. With Earth potentially being destroyed in a few days, the presence of vampires in the city was the last thing on everyone's minds.
After fighting countless soldiers to make their way up to E-Class, they were interrupted by Shiro, and the new and improved Reaper 2.0. Korosensei fought a good fight but was distracted with worry for his students. Kayano was fatally injured when she tried to intervene, having only managed to get a few hits in on the monster. Karma and Nagisa jumped in to try and act as a distraction, but the Reaper used his tentacles to throw them away from her body, they couldn't reach her. It was the final push Korosensei needed, as he channeled every last bit of energy that he had to propel the duo towards the anti-sensei field that surrounded the mountain, killing the Reaper and permanently immobilizing Shiro.
