"He said you're paralyzed from the waist down."

As soon as I heard this, my entire world came crashing down around me. I looked over at Cc who was crying silently. My mind was filled with thoughts as I tried to comprehend what I just heard when I was pulled back into reality by Ashley.

"They're hoping it's only temporary. But if it's not, there may be a surgery that can reverse the damage, but it's experimental. He said they maybe able to get you in but-" He explained.

"I want to do it." I interrupted.

"Ana you could die." Cc said.

"I could die from any surgery Cc. I don't care. I can't spend the rest of my life stuck in a wheelchair. I couldn't live like that." I said.

Cc didn't answer. Jinxx and Ashley were both quiet. Andy and Jake came back in and sat down wordlessly as an oppressing fog hung over the room. A couple hours later, Ronnie came to visit. He brought a little stuffed bear and hung out for a while before having to leave again. Cc hasn't said anything since earlier.

The doctor came in and asked how everything was. I decided to ask about this mysterious surgery.

"Ashley told me there was a surgery that may be able to fix this."

"Well, there is." Mercia said, hesitating slightly.

"But..." I pressed.

"But it's experimental. There's a 50/50 chance it will work. It's risky because we're working around a lot of nerves and one wrong move could make the situation worse." He explained.

"Could you get me in?" I asked.

Mercia looked between Cc and me. He nodded.

"I think so."

"When will it be?" I asked.

"Tomorrow afternoon we have a spot open." He said.

I nodded and he left the room. The guys were mostly quiet. After a while, I figure they got uncomfortable so they wet to get dinner. Cc was the only one who stayed.

"Please think about this." Cc said. "I've almost lost you several times now Ana. I can't lose you this time."

"You won't lose me. I promise. I'm not giving up on life just yet." I said.

Cc gave me a weak smile and kissed me. The guys came back a while later with Taco bell and Handed Cc a bag while my dinner got here. It was disgusting hospital food, but at least I got to eat with them. After this, I wasn't allowed to have anything until the surgery.

-----next morning-----

The whole morning, I had people running in and out of my room, checking on me and getting me ready for the surgery. Cc and Jinxx were the only two allowed to be in the room since there were apparently "too many people in the way" if the rest of the guys stayed. I was hungry...so I was a bit grouchy, but Cc didn't care.

"Okay." Mercia said as he walked in the room. "How about we get this going?"

He was wearing dark blue scrubs and a matching cap as he looked at my charts and took my vitals. Cc squeezed my hand. I could tell he was really nervous. Possibly even more nervous than I was.

A few nurses came in and began to wheel the bed out of the room. Cc walked with me until he was stopped and I asked them to wait a second while I talked to Cc.

"You'd better not die in there." Cc said.

"I won't. But you'd better be here when I wake up." I said.

Cc laughed a little and nodded in agreement as he reluctantly let go of my hand and we continued into the OR.

The anesthesiologist put a mask over my face and told me to breathe in and out deeply while I counted down from ten to one. I only got to seven before everything went dark.

----------

I woke up feeling slightly nauseous and tired. I couldn't feel my lower half due to medication but I was able to feel my hand being held. I looked over to see Cc asleep leaning on the bed next to me.

I chuckled to myself and put my hand on his head, playing with his hair a bit before he woke up and smiled at me.

"You're awake." He said, kissing my forehead and frowning. "You're pretty warm."

Cc waved over one of the nurses and asked for a wet cloth and she came back with one a few seconds later. Cc held it on my face in a few places, cooling me off.

"Look who's awake! How are you feeling?" Dr. Mercia asked as he pulled the curtain open.

"Alright. Did it work?" I asked, worried about the answer.

"Well let's see. Can you move your feet for me?" He asked.

I tried once again as I had done yesterday. The pain in my back was not as strong but I still couldn't feel my lower half from drugs. I looked over at Cc and saw him smile and kiss my hand.

"Yes it did work! You'll likely need to do some therapy since your muscle memory is probably a little rusty with regular movements, but you should make a near full recovery." He said.

We thanked him and the moment he left, Cc broke down into tears and hugged me.

"You're okay. I'm so glad you're okay." Cc said.

"I'm okay." I repeated.

About an hour later, I was moved to a "regular" room and the guys came in and said hello. I was able to stand with help, but that was about it so I used a wheelchair to get around if I had to. The doctor said I would need to re-learn how to walk but that could be done fairly quickly. He was guessing around a couple weeks.

The guys only had a few more shows to play until tour had finished so they left for about a week. The whole time, Cc and I called every night and sometimes in the middle of the day as well.

I was doing therapy sessions twice a day to get me up as fast as possible. By the time the guys got back, I could stand by myself and walk with some assistance but was rapidly recovering.
