Over breakfast, Jane and I discussed what our plan of action would be. From her years of being a detective, she knew that we had to enter the house somehow, and do this discretely without being seen.
We agreed that as of today, we would observe the daily routine of the family next door in order to get a clear understanding of their movements throughout the day – when they leave in the morning and when they return at night.
Staring out of my window, with Jane right beside me, we waited patiently for the family to leave their house which occurred at precisely 7:00am. We had been observing their actions for the past three days and had already established a pattern: they left the house at 7:00am in the morning to drop their son at school, and later returned at 4:00pm from picking him up from school. During the day, they would go to work without returning until the evening. This timetable was exactly the same time every day; almost like clockwork.
