December holidays were great, everyone came home. We're all sitting outside the house under the tree. I'm so stressed since I'm waiting for midnight, it's that time, We're waiting for our results.
Uncle :" aiy mshana kumele wehlise umoya, angfuni ukuqulekelwa nguwe lapha"
Gogo :" kunini ngimtshela, akafuni nokulala-ke"
Me :" ngfisa ngabe kusebusuku-ke okuncono"
Menzi kept calling me, he isn't even shaked a little bit about this. He knows he got all the distinctions, that's how bright he is. Me, on the other side, I know I passed well I'm just holding my thumbs for atleast six distinctions.

It's now at night,me and gogo are not sleeping,she said she will wait with me.
Finally midnight came, my phone vibrated, I checked and it was the SMS, I've opted for it. I opened it and yeap! I made it with a Bachelor pass as I hoped.
Konje why didn't I sleep vele? Because I knew that I passed, this SMS thing didn't give me what I wanted.
Me :" Ngiphasile gogo"
Her :" kodwa awujabulile"
Me :" akuveziwe ukuthi ngiphase kanjani"
Her :" manje kufanele wenze njani?"
Me :" sengizolinda kuse bese ngilanda i statement sami"
Her :" woza sithandaze"
We held each other's hands and prayed,we then slept in her room. That's where we've been waiting for the results.

Morning came, when I woke up everyone was already awake. Gogo have even told them that I passed. Uncle was happy for me, I can't tell the same about others.I  checked my phones,it there were three unread messages. I Opened them, the other one was from Cuba that I'm accepted to go and study medicine.
The second one was from University of Cape town,I'm also accepted to study medicine. The last one was from University of Johannesburg,same story. I also applied at UKZN medicine school and they haven't replied. I woke up and bathed, I have to go to school and fetch my statement so I don't have a choice but to wake up. I then went back to Gogo's room and found her laying on the bed,since I came here I never saw her in bed at this time.
Me :" gogo, ukahle?"
Her :" ngikahle ntombazane, ngikhathele"
Me :" phumula-ke. Ngisahamba ngiya eskoleni"
Her :" kulungile ntombi"
Me :" bangithathile eCuba naseGoli naseKapa, e UKZN abakangiphenduli"
Her :" noma bengasale sebekuyeka, ngoba nje usuphendulwe eCuba sekufeziwe"
Me :" ukuthi nje gogo angithandi ukukushiya wedwa lapha"
Her :" kanti uma ule kude uzofunda kahle ngoba uzozimisela ujahe ukuqeda ubuye uze ekhaya"
Me :" aiy angikushiye" I said walking out.

I found Menzi standing by the school gate,he saw me and ran to me.
Him :" I'm happy to finally see you"
Me :" what happened?"
Him :" nothing happened We're waiting for the principal,he went to fetch the statements at the circuit"
I sighed.
Him :" what's bothering you?"
Me :" bra, I don't know how I passed. I don't know how many points I scored"
Him :" you saw the paper?"
I shook my heard.
Him :" Don't worry, I got you"
He said putting his hands on the pockets,he then came out with a piece of paper.
Him :" here" he handed it to me.
I took it and looked at it,it was the results paper. He cut out the part with our schools results. I scanned for my examination number, I found it and looked next to it, I passed with a Bachelor and I seven distinctions, I didn't get it in IsiZulu. Gogo will be so disappointed in me,how can I fail my mother tongue. I gave him back his paper, I was over the moon.
Him :" I'm so glad I changed your mood"
Me :" you just helped me, I was about to faint"
Principal still hasn't arrived so we decided to walk to the shop to buy a colddrink.
Me :" three universities have accepted me for medicine"
Him :" me too, I hope there's one that accepted both of us so we can both choose it,right?"
Me :" I don't know. Where are you accepted?"
Him :" UCT, UJ and Cuba baby"
Me :" wow, same here"
Him :" you're lying"
Me :" I'm not"
He jumped up and down,he was so happy about this.
Principal has arrived,we both went to get our statements"
Principal :" I'm proud of you both. Congratulations"
Us :" thank you"
We thanked him and left. We went and stood under the tree and looked at our statements. Menzi got all the distinctions. I got 79 % in IsiZulu. That broke my heat,just one percent stopped me from getting a distinction,mxm!
Menzi :" please open your phone now, we need to communicate so that we can decide on which University we're choosing but I'd like to go to Cuba, baby!" He said lifting his hands up.
Me :" I also like Cuba but I don't like to leave gogo alone"
Him :" when she finds out that you're accepted there and you don't want to go because of her. She will drag you to the airport, herself"
Me :" you know her very well"
That he was right, gogo doesn't want me to miss out on something because of her. She always says she's the elder and she's the one who is supposed to take care of me and not the other way around,so jah.
We separated, I went home busy smiling. On my way I met Thembeka and Thembela. Thembeka was holding her sister's baby and Thembela was pushing her big belly, lol!
Thembeka :" oh my God! Lethu" she said coming to me.
Me :" My cuzzie unjani, hey Thembela"
Thembela :" mxm!" She said walking away.
Thembeka :" don't mind her,how did it go? But I can see from your smile that you passed"
I didn't say anything, I just opened the bag and took out my statement and gave it to her.
Her :" wow, well done and congratulations cuzzie. I'm sooo proud of you"
Thembela :" Thembeka please bring my child"
Thembeka :" you can go,we are following you"
Thembela came back and took her baby, then walked away. It was now only me and Thembeka walking and talking,her telling me about varsity life.

I'm now home, uncle,his wife and their daughter are all sitting outside.
Uncle :" mshana ubuyile,woza ngbone"
I went and greeted them, only my uncle greeted back, I don't know what's wrong with this two. To think that I'm sharing the room with the other one but she hates me with everything in her. My uncle was happy for me. I then walked to gogo and told her, the old woman was happy for me. She then told me to call my uncle, I did.
Gogo :"Mtanami, amandla okulwa asengiphelele, ngicela unakekele uLangalethu,nguwe wedwa asesele nawe, ngicela ungamulahli"
Uncle :" ngeke ngimulahle ma,ngizoqhubeka ngimvikele"
Gogo :" ntombazane kagogo, ugogo uyahamba manje. Ngisacela uhambe uye eCuba uyofunda uzimisele ubuye usuzoba wudokotela engizoziqhenya ngaye. Uze ungakhohlwa ukuthandaza,ngizobe ngikubhekile nginawe noma sengingekho eduze kwakho. Sengizolala ngiphumule ngazi ukuthi usuphumule"
She took a deep breath and slowly closed her eyes. I felt her hand slowly letting go of mine.
Me :" gogo" I said shaking her.
Uncle :" ugogo usesishiyile mshana" he said tightening his jaws and held me to his chest. We stood like that for a moment,he then called the insurance so that they can come and take the body. We then covered her with a blanket and walked out.
